Phantombacker (AKA Ghost Bass Killa!)

Yeah, the plan is to glue the neck in and shape the back of the tang to blend into the back of the neck, so it should look like a neck-through.

I'll probably leave the end of the neck rounded, since the truss rod nut is there, so I don't really want to mess with that. Besides, there will be a little space between the neck and the pickguard, so it shouldn't look too bad.

To answer your question, MagnificentB, I'll also need to carve a space in the body there to allow for truss rod adjustment.

Just an update to say that I'm still here. I did get a nice maple board to fix the neck support issue, but I haven't been able to start cutting yet, as I'm nearing the end of the school year (I'm a high school teacher), and I've been writing new exams as well as taking a graduate class, so I've been unable to get any time in the garage. But school will be out soon, and I'll then be able to start making some sawdust!

I would love to get my hands on one of those bodies. I would choose a different tack by ordering a neck thru paddle head Warmouth neck, slip the body in half, and glue the neck/body together like Ric does. Then you would have a true neck thru. This is all above my skill set, but a guy can dream, can't he?

Anyway, I subb'ed this thread and am looking forward to seeing your project progress!
