Phase shifter

There was a big thread on phasers late last year with many sound examples, I too posted a couple of sound bites of different phasers if you want to listen.

My suggestions are the EHX Small Stone Nano for an affordable and easy to use phaser, and the Empress Phaser at the expensive end.

I have an EHX Small Stone, a Zoom MS-60B, a Mooer Orange 90 and a modded Musikding The Phaser clone kit. Both the latter are enhanced phase 90 clones. I prefer them to the others because they to me seem more subtle. Both the others have a tendency to "phase out", which sounds like a volume drop in each sweep. The phase 90s doesn't seem to suffer from this. I think my Mooer Orange Ninety is my preferred phaser pedal.

The INFANEM Faye Sing is one of my favorites. There is a new revision that has just been released…SO MUCH WANT.

I just love phasers though…Boss PH-2 & PH-3 are fun. The Whetstone from Blackout effectors is nice. The Pigtronix EP-2 is cool and unique, plus there is a new custom version at Nova Music that has me going HMMMM.

A classic not mentioned in this thread is the Moog MF-3. It is a very versatile Phaser, it can do classic to whacky Wooshing. It just plain sounds GOOD. I am probably going to pick one of these up (AGAIN!!!) because CV ins and outs mean a lot to me these days.

My first choice - Phase 100. Simply sounds the best to me out of all the phasers I've tried/heard. No apparent volume jump (mid bump) like in phase 90, and has that perfect syrupy watery tone. Works really really well in the band mix. In fact, worked best for me in the band mix. Also, get can some more subtle tones that I found useful in calmer sections of songs.

Second choice - Phase 90. A great phaser. I'd go with block logo version simply because I like my phasers more pronounced anyways. A slight mid bump that might help in the mix too. It sat nice in the mix, but in the end, 100 just worked better for me (90 would sometimes jump too much in the mix beacause of the mid bump). I'd go for this one over 100 only if pedal size was more important.

Both classic tones IMO. Check out Juan Alderete's work to hear how great Phase 100 sounds on bass. That's what sold me on it right off.

A very nice phaser if you prefer darker, more subtle phasers. Had this one before I got Phase 100, and it just wasn't prominent enough for my taste. It did sound really nice though, just wasn't my tone. I preferred both Phase 90 and 100 in the mix which were a lot more prominent.
