Just to make it a little harder on you.....
The guy that does Rogers pickguards has a new material "Baltic Amber"....That stuff might look sweeeeeet against a '59 burst.
Kinda like...Tortoise... on steroids.

Trans Red and Trans Blue are leading.
I love the Trans Red Nino made with the all black. Problem is that you can't get the Metro's with black hardware. I can buy the Hipshot tuners and string tree(?) but not 100% sure which bridges Roger is using. Looks like a Gotoh. Not sure which model though.
If I could get the hardware in black I'd probably do that.

Heh. Well, here's my 2¢: just go with your gut instinct, and keep in mind that no matter *what* color you pick, you'll second-guess yourself later, at least a little.

Chris Chaney's (Jane's Addiction, Alanis Morriset) Olympic white, tort, maple is sooooooo sexy. My jaw just drops ever time I see it.

I agree. That Trans-red is SWEET. Is that specific Trans-Red Metro available? That one looks GREAT to my eyes! I also agree that tastes tend to shift over time. I ordered and had a gorgeous quilt Maple top F bass built for me a year and a half ago. Then 6 months later, I bought another F Bass (tobacco burst - Ash) and I now prefer the understated elegance of the Ash/Tobacco burst better than the gucci coffee table topped bass.
Now, my tastes have evolved (or reverted) still further back toward the Vintage look of a Fender J Bass (Or Vintage Sadowsky, Lakland etc.) Go figure.

Interesting to hear where some of you players have come from and what you are doing.
I've been very lucky in my playing career. I've mostly played in St. Louis (and still do at least one week a month). I recently moved to Detroit and am very happy to have met Mikebass and the guys at LDS. I've spent my career as a freelancer, most recently playing for an agency in St. Louis called 'Galaxy'. I've been with them for about 15 years (god help me
). We play all over the country, doing mostly corporate dates and extremely hi-end weddings and privates (in St. Louis, we call it the 'Ritz Carlton circuit'). There are about 100 players in the organization, out of which the bands are 'constructed', sometimes up to 8 bands a night all playing under the 'Galaxy' name. There are amazing players in the organization (the Mayer brother's when Jimmy Buffet is not touring, Tommy Kennedy when he's in St. Louis, etc.). It's amazing who turns up on the gigs sometimes. The book is basically Motown and 70's funk (lot's of Maize, Luther Vandrost, early Michael Jackson, etc. etc. ) It 's a lot of fun, the pay is decent and you can pick the dates you want to play.
Prior to that, I played about a million nights in 'jazz' clubs in St. Louis (in the early 80's, playing 330+ nights a year). Not many of those 6 night a week 2 year+ gigs left
. I then spent a year and a half with a trumpet player named Phil Driscoll, who has subsequentily gotten into the gospel thing.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!!!!

Really? I seem to recall Roger telling me last year (maybe that is the key) that he would't sell the black hardware/upgrade the Metro's.
If he is now than that'll make a huge difference in my thought process.
