I hear that :crying: The highlight of my career was spending a year prepping for a tour that would never happen with "Stegosaurus" (on reprise records). I never made any money at it, but thats not why I did it anyway. It was a huge amount of fun, we got to play all the best LA clubs (the whiskey, the viper room) and record execs would take us out to dinner and all that. If you'd like some MP3s I'll mail them to ya. There are copies of the record out there, but they pulled them from shelves to repackage the songwriter as a solo artist (an idea he hated). It was a blast while it lasted.

I would go with option 1 as is! I think black body, B-W-B pickguard and maple neck is simply the biz!!!!! (My Squier Strat is those combination of colours! ;) )

And anyway - everybody knows black basses sound better! :bassist:

Themselves. This can be taken on a multitude of levels. ;)

As for my "career", I've done most of the stereotypical gigs - the "original band looking for a deal", the "cover band for poop 'n giggles", and most challenging the "profession sideman who actual got paid", although not without a fight in one instance. That showed me the music business pretty well. :eek: I've taken the last few years "off" after moving from NY to here in Kentucky and have been woodshedding and greatly improving, and the last year has been a period of evaluating my needs, purchases and "rebuilding" my entire rig in preparation for a move up to the Akron/Cleveland area (the fiancée was working on her Masters here, was just hooded two weeks ago, and will be entering a doctoral program there) where I imagine the opportunity for decent gigs are better than Eastern Kentucky. :help:

Ideally I'd like to find an actual decently-paying cover/bar band situation, which is the one gig I really haven't tried yet as well as giving me the chance to put away some money for "lifetime-quality" gear and the recording/pressing/release of "my" project, the seeds of which were planted years ago and will, with any luck, come to fruit in the near-future.

As for the bass choice, IMO it's easier to list the ones I don't like than the ones I do. The tobaccoburst and sonic blue don't do much for me, but the others are all very nice, with the black/silver pearloid 'guard and transparent red and blue with white pearloid an inch above the others. Honestly, at this level it's a "what type of mood am I in?" answer. I will say that you can never go wrong with a black bass with white or silver pearloid - it's the tuxedo of our instrument, and being a Sadowsky?

It's an Armani. :D

Like almost everyone else here, I have a story too!!
Short one- Early 90's, had a sweet gig with a femaple vocalist who had some moderate success-tours and such. Came back to Detroit when that imploded. Landed a few regional touring gigs-nothing big to speak of, but it was work! The original band I joined (Skeleton Crew-who beat Destiny's Child on Star Search BTW) landed a development deal a few years back and like many others, it didn't flower like we hoped for. And now working with a young female country singer as well with a demo deal out of Nashville that may or may not pan out. Still gigging around Detroit whenever I can.
But these days are spent at my day job (eng. with a small robotics company) to provide for my family. Music just isn't steady like we would hope for now is it?!?!!!
Blah blah blah blah, it's all ball bearrings anyway!

Same song, different chorus :D Its tough going back to the cube farm after you've had a taste of the bright lights ... but we all gotta eat! Its amazing to me how tough it is to make any kind of a living playing music, let alone one that could support me in southern california, where I want to live.
