Two guys I knew had Manta B2 and Calibra, respectively. Pimp cars, I know, but it was a lot of fun to drive those.Yes, Ascona A and Manta A in the picture.
I also once had an Ascona C. Fun car, I occasionally see them driven around here, most of them still in great condition.
Barges... Was just talking with an old friend. We'd go out and paint the town together. Took her dad's car, which she hated driving. So I drove, I didn't mind. It was big as a whale... You didn't turn corners in that thing, you floated around them.I think many of these older cars look cool, but I have too many memories of how so many of these cars actually drove and handled on the road. So many of the mid to larger sized cars handled like barges, making modern cars feel like Gran Prix cornering demons by comparison.
I think that before long the electrics with their smooth power trains and all wheel drive and steering will make the current batch of cars feel like dinosaurs too.
