Having owned many D-series Citroens back in the '80s and '90s I'd say that they are really not all that problematic when it comes to upkeep, as long as the undercarriage is not rotted. The biggest DS club in Europe back then was in your country as well...the good old days.
I almost bought back the last D I had owned before moving overseas - a '74 DS 23, carb, 5-speed - a couple of months ago. It needs some work but has aged better than I expected. That particular vehicle and myself shared some *very* interesting moments during our time together and there's a part of me that would *really* like for us to team up again...
