PICKGUARD COLOR FOR NATURAL PRECISION?

OP here, still working my way through the thread, as I got slammed shortly after posting it a few days ago.

The volume response way exceeded my expectation, as I thought I might get nine responses -- certainly not 9 pages.

In any case, thanks to all for the great suggestions and great photos.

It was fortuitous that you posted this as I am currently in the market for a decent pickguard replacement for my natural finish Fender Elite Precision. I am leaning towards a black pearl guard from Pickguard Planet but am considering other options. Here's a list of various p.g. makers. Hopefully browsing their work, patterns and colors we can both find something to satisfy. Good luck to you.

I think it boils down to what you want as far as exactly how much you want it to pop.

If you want to keep it subtle, but classy, I really like the black walnut or leather as a contrast to the wood or brown tort.
A little more eye candy ... some of those pearls, white or a reddish tort.
Full on "POP" ... solid orange or red. You couldn't miss it on a stage full of other instruments.

Just by you posting this, I get it that you don't want a boring ordinary choice. It comes down to your tolerance for how much you want it to stand out. Also, what would fit in with the band you are in/the music you play.

My kit came with a white pickguard. Once I assembled it I kinda disliked it:

Since I had gone with the carbon grey to "weather" the look I have ordered and am waiting on a black /grey pearl.

Think the Black /Grey in the guard will go nicely with the rest of the body

ok...perhaps an old thread....but holy cow-----how the HECK did you get that finish on the body??? Please tell me that it's "just" a matter of applying some stain...sparingly....not necessarily going for a full coverage?
