Have any of you ordered from Pickguard Heaven?

I ordered a pickguard from them almost a month ago and I know that they make them as each order comes in, but I'm getting a little worried. I emailed about a week ago and no response. Just emailed again and we'll see what happens. But I'm wondering, did they go out of business or something? Or just a holiday rush/backlog?

I ordered a custom pickguard from WD a couple of weeks ago and it just showed up today. So yeah, a month sounds excessive.
Same here. I ordered a different pickguard from WD just over a week ago and tracking shows it will be here tomorrow. I would have ordered the other one from WD as well, but they didn't list that particular pickguard in their offerings.

All of the custom pickguard operations I'm aware of and/or have dealt with seem to be very small operations. There's usually one person that handles order intake, making the actual pickguard, shipping it out, and taking care of the billing. Oh, and they are responsible for communication with the customer, hence the long stretches of time between responses.

Even WD Music, which has a fairly large operation, seems to have only one person that I dealt with for the whole process.

All of the pick guards I've ordered took 2-3 weeks for an in-stock item and 4-5 weeks for a custom order.

So the delivery time of 3, 4, or even 6 weeks seems about right. And since both pickguard vendors had good reputations (even if one of them was a tad cranky, we got straight pretty quickly and they've been fine ever since), I had patience with the wait time, just not concerned about it.

That seems to be just the way it is. Which isn't a problem in the long run. Just unsettling, no doubt.

I have ordered from them several times, over a period of decades.

Each time, I experience new depths of how terrible a company can be to work with. Really just awful people, as far as I can tell. Incredibly snotty, whiny, not very bright, and not particularly talented at what they do, vs. anyone else I've used for the same sort of work. I avoid them at nearly all costs. It isn't as if they have the market cornered, or perform a quality of work that blows the other big guard makers away.

I ordered a pickguard on 12/6 and received it this morning, no problems.

I’ve dealt with 3 custom PG makers, but not with this particular maker.

It’s one thing to be vendor that’s a one-man operation and covered up with orders along with the associated duties.

It’s a whole ‘Nother thing to be a crapstick vendor overall.
Exactly, I’ll cut a ton of slack to any small operation if the end product is good.

Unfortunately the experience with these guys was pretty frustrating and disappointing front to back, and the end product failed to make up for any of it.

I used them once... started by email to make sure I was following the ordering directions properly and not have any errors. The emails were "short" at best, they made me feel like I was the jerk for even asking questions. I had never ordered, contacted them or even seen their products in person. I was polite as can be.

Now the guard.. they didn't drill 2 holes that were clearly marked and of course, that was my fault. Also, apparently having to respond to email was "out of the norm" and was a "major hassle" according to that clown... yes, he said those things to me. dude actually told me to never order from them again. Worst CS I've ever encountered.

I ordered a antique pearl for my Stingray from them a few years back. response wasn't incredeble, but the product was perfect. It replaced a questionable tort. I think at the time they were a primary supplier for Musicman(?)

Your post contains lots of echoes of my experiences with them. The last time was the final straw. These days, I get what I need elsewhere, for about the same prices, with better craftsmanship, zero attitude, and total professionalism...or just do it myself. The people I've encountered at Chandler (Pickguard Heaven and Pickguard Planet) have no business running a company, and IMO, deserve to be permanently unemployed.
