Hey Bud, would you mind if I kinda copy the way you do you binding? I want to do just the sides with flame maple because I saw the basses that you've done binding with, and it looks killer.

of course, if you do mind, then I'll think of something else ;)

Greg

Binding? It's two tops basically. I sure don't hold the patent on that.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for pickups yet. Probably Bartolini Jazz pickups under wood covers.

On a slightly different note...this custom is for me! I should take delivery in about a week and a half. I'll be doing the paint work minus the hand painted pin stripes. The sissy bar is getting swapped out and the rear fender is getting shortened a little bit. I've already got the new sissy bar.

that V bass is amazing! great work!

reminds me of the bass Schmier from Destruction plays.

Cool design. Interesting Bud-ified inline headstock. BTW what's the top wood on that?

IMO J pups would ruin it. Too busy. Plain rounded rectangles would be much better.

The top is good ol' Texas mesquite with a mesquite burl inlay. I said I would probably install jazz pickups with wooden covers. That means cutting off the mounting tabs and stuffing them inside of some covers. ;)
