PIEZO...

Sooooooooooooooooooooo... I'm a "Dude of few words." But, here's the deal...

I have an entire bass worth of parts here, after building a bunch of weirdo/misfits. Pretty much an entire bass. And parts to build a few others.

But, my idea with this Fender, lined jazz neck, is to build a bass with ONLY a PIEZO bridge.

Any suggestions on a bridge, and what to power it with for the most woody/transparent sound? I only want a volume and tone knob. Would actually prefer to "stack" it, in order to have only one hole in the body before I order it.

Thanks,
Marc

[edit] I already know that it's gonna be a P shaped body, with a Paisley finish. So I don't need suggestions there. ONLY on the guts.

For comparison:

I have an acoustic bass guitar without electronics. I can use a clip-on piëzo transducer with it. To have Volume and Tone controls, I have bought a cheap equalizer pedal. (It needs 9V from outside. I have at least one power bank that can provide that.) By carrying both the equalizer and the power bank in my pockets (or equivalent, to be decided), I can control the volume of the bass. More important for an acoustic bass (so not yours): I can boost the bass sound and suppress hand sound.

I have had the equalizer for a few days, so I don't have much experience yet, but I do wish that I had thought of this back in 1981, when I replaced the strings with steel ones and bought a magnetic sound-hole pick-up to boost the lows that my stick-on acoustic pick-up couldn't provide.
Before buying the equalizer, I checked AliExpress for Volume&Tone controls. I preferred a €w0 active equalizer over €10 passive controls. YMMV.

I have purchased a related equalizer for use with an acoustic guitar.

Great suggestion. And... thank you. Although... I want it IN my bass. I build weird stuff. LOL

GraphTech makes pretty good peizo saddles for several existing bridges. Their preamps work and sound pretty good to. I have a couple of guitars with GraphTech systems including one with the full on Roland driver set up.

Hey Matt, thanks. This is the exact system that I've been contemplating. Although, since I'm having a body made, I can use ANY type of aftermarket saddles/bridges. I created this thread in order to see what others may be available, and what the experience has been with them.

But, Yeah... I think I'm just gonna go with The Ghost.

Thanks again,
Peace.
