Pizza Toppings

Basically, thin crust for me. Drives the wife and kid crazy.

Some faves- Thin crust, bacon, sausage, spinach and jalapenos. Or, thin crust with pesto sauce, fresh basil and parmesan blobs. Hell, even a good ol' sausage and pepperoni on a thin crust, as long as the crust and meats are good quality.

Also, bad crust or weak sauce will ruin any pizza regardless of toppings, imo.

Try little lumps of leftover pesto.

Fresh basil is always wonderful, and super easy to grow. Rabbits won't eat it. We also found that simply freezing the whole leaves -- then take them out of the freezer and crush them onto the pizza. They will have turned black from freezing but still taste great. So hide them under the cheese.

Spiro's Pizza over on the Kitsap Peninsula has a smoked oyster and onion pizza that is incredibly fabulous. but don't leave out the onions - they build the bridge between the smokey goodness of the oysters and the perfectly seasoned red sauce

Well, times are a changing ... just checked the online menus, and this gem of goodness is no longer listed as a standard offering. they still have smoked oysters in the available meats, so you'll have to order this one on your own. Order it in Silverdale, and you just might get Cain's attention and a visit to your table asking how you know about this one ;)

I love a garlic pizza like that, and I've subsequently found that such a delightfully pungent pleasure will certainly chase away what ails you.

If you're ever in the Seattle area, check out Jet City Pizza.
Order the Northwest Garlic. It used to be called the garlic gulch. Not as much garlic on the new version, but there's a bunch on it still.

I'll happily eat a plate of thymus glands, or brain, or hearts, or livers or intestines. I've eaten ludefisk and thought it was tasty. I've enjoyed all kinds of questionable meats. Pineapple on pizza is ******* disgusting.

Pineapple and pepperoni is actually very good. I will not abide by ham on a pizza, though. That's just not right.

I am partial to pepperoni. Fox's Pizza Shops make a pizza with real bacon and it is soooo delicious! However, sausage and Canadian bacon are good too. I like any type of cheese topping as well.
We no longer get Canadian bacon down here. When you ask for it they say it will just be thin sliced ham, will that be OK? the weird thing is it's actual Canadian bacon. Go figure. :D

It's not what's on the pizza, but how it is executed. Anyone can put bacon, or onions, or garlic, or pineapple, or smoked Gouda, or the ashes of Don Amice on a pizza. At the end of the day it still has to be a perfect marriage of texture and flavor. While pizza is the one thing you'd think would be pretty fool proof, it gets murdered more often than not.
