Pizza Toppings

Must haves:
Thick crust - not deep dish, but thick and chewey and preferably with big deflated yeast bubbles
Tomato sauce
Fresh mushrooms
Gobs of red, white and/or yellow onions - there is no such thing as too much
Mozzarella

Acceptable:
Garlic
Any bell pepper but green
Ground sausage
Pickled banana pepper
Jalapeño
Sliced tomato
Fresh spinach
Fresh basil
Cayenne pepper seeds/flakes
Pesto
Artichoke hearts
Other cheeses, as long as mozzarella is superior to them in volume
Green onion or scallions, as long as the onions described above are superior to them in volume
Edit:Capers

Dicey, but I can live with:
Pepperoni
Beef
Ham
Fowl

Deal breaker:
Olives of any sort
Fish of any sort
Pine apple
Organ meat

Also, when not as listed above, Margherita pizza are nice

Good anchovies. Sub par anchovies add nothing but saltiness. The good stuff is delicious.

Agreed. I won't get them at any restaurant that doesn't take their pizza seriously. Best sardine pizza I ever had was in Florence, Italy. I ate sardines several times on that trip, now that I think about it. My wife won't touch them, though.

Sardines on pizza? I've never had that. Seems like they'd be too meaty. The anchovies are so thin and delicate they almost melt into the cheese.

Yes--exactly! I think the main reason many people make the "I'm going to vomit" face when you mention anchovies, is because they've had them at "fast food" national pizza chains. As friskinator alluded to, a pizza joint that takes it's pizza seriously will use quality anchovies. It makes a huge difference.

In high school it was pepperoni, beef, onions & green peppers.
Or Taco pizzas.

but more the former.

Then I lived across from a 2 for 1 pizza place that actually made decent pizzas.
a 2 topping was a decent price, but a 4 topping was overpriced for 2 extra toppings
So I would get on beef & onion & one pepperoni & green pepper
Then it became one beef & onion.

And after years of shunning chicken pizza--I now really like it--and that is what I would normally get.
Chicken & BBQ sauce--and maybe pineapple...

Chicken, like pineapple, does not belong on pizza.

Put whatever you like on your pizza---I sued to think chicken didn't belong--but I like it now--and it's great with pineapple.

i wonder how many people who put down pineapple on pizza don't like it--and how many do.

As an example I like bananas--but wouldn't put one on a pizza (If you want to--go ahead)

I love pineapple and eat it quite frequently, especially when it's fresh and I can cut it up myself.
We even bought a special utensil to cut it up.
I particularly enjoy grilled pineapple.

I urge you to repent and stop placing foreign items on pizza. :)

I love grilled pineapple...

For various reasons I don't eat pizza that often any more...
