was that stock, what year, and what did it sound like? These are pretty rare I would think?

Bad Ass II
I’d have to say vintage. I’ve questioned whether I should go the pj route and just get a vintage p. I have a Jazz and a few Jazz like basses too so I can get the J sound from a j or j like bass…
Yes, all original. It’s a 1983 Fender Precision Elite II. I believe they were only made for a few years. You can toggle between pickups or blend them to taste, or dial out the bridge pickup for a traditional P tone. It’s a pretty cool bass, I bought it new from a local music store and played it for years as my main player.was that stock, what year, and what did it sound like? These are pretty rare I would think?

IMO I’d go something that has passive vintagey style pups with an active pre that can be bypassed.
Not sure what is out there that fits the bill specifically but someone will chime in!
Never seen that MM. What period were those made?So far the finest PJ I have played was a MusicMan

One of these badboys: MM Caprice.
During the whole COVID thing, I made my own version (cause I could not find one to purchase at a reasonable price and I was bored) with the standard VVT controls. If I had to do it again, I would go with VTT and do the pickups in series

I think the production was short. Not sure when they came out but they went out of production around 2018. You can find them used, but they command a new Stingray price.Never seen that MM. What period were those made?
Sunburst on the right is amazing.
I’m a big fan of the ESP-LTD AP-5. Between that and my Aerodyne, I’m flush for PJ’s.
If I were in the market for another PJ though, this would probably be it. The ergo’s of the five string are really comfortable and the hardware/electronics are what a lot of people upgrade to, anyway.
You're obviously going to get every recommendation in the book, but what about a Fender Precision Special?I’ve got a few basses in my Arsenal but the one thing that’s missing is; wait for it, wait for it…. A P Bass!
So… I don’t really want a modern P so if I get anything it will be a PJ. I’m not a big fan of production brands but I could be swayed, the closest I have to a production instrument is a KSD ProtoJ. Looking forward to your suggestions.
I have a VF5. Fantastic instruments. But man I wish I'd snagged that tomato soup red PJI have a BN5 on my bucket list. This is an interesting option!
