Nah... That bass is just a testbed. I want to experiment with various pickups, without having to take my main axe(s) offline for repetitive experimentation.

That MIM body was laying around for a while, but I never used it because I'm not fond of its shallow back contour (tummy cut). I do like the Blizzard Pearl color, and its light weight, but I didn't want to strip that beautiful poly finish to re-shape it. Maybe I will, some day.

Meanwhile, I am seriously digging the GZR sounds, especially with both pickups wide open. I think those GZRs might go into my next front-line axe project.

Now I just need to figure out where to put those sweet '63/'74 PJ pups that came in the J-bass.

Nice looking bass. Strange to see the P pickup so far back. Dog looks distraught.

I am not sure why the pickup is so far back. It is a custom build so the original customer, or mr. Pedigo hopefully had a good reason. It sounds great, but certainly not like a typical P, for more reasons than just the pick up. As I type this, the dog is exhibiting the exact same level of distraught in the exact same spot!

It's a Jake P/J from German / Polish builder, Maruszczyk.

Incredible value for money, built to my exact spec: Hipshot bridge & tuners, Haussel pickups, chambered body (7.2lbs!) and all for pretty much what you'd pay for a new MIM Fender in the UK.

The pickup location looks spot on to me...I think the picture angle and all black aesthetic enhances how close the P & J are when you are using a 60's location for the J. Other players have made this observation with my stealth Jazz PJ as well.

Really good eye ya got there. I actually measured before commenting this time. It is within a 64th of an inch of my American Standard P, and if anything, a 64th of an inch closer to the neck.

I have a Fender P Bass lacquer, it's REALLY resonant & I really want to rout the body for a j pup because of that - but, I've read in a different forum that somebody did this and it hurt the instruments unamplified tone (less resonant) has anyone experienced this?

G On Bass is trying to say, in a somewhat snarky way, that the unamplified tone of an electric instrument should not be a huge concern. However, if you are worried about affecting the vibe of your bass in any way...I suggest that you should not use it as a test bed for irreversible modifications.
