Hey folks, been a pj guy since I started in 97. I'm a lefty so I customize everything. My fav is my recreation of the Duff Mckagan signature. Also, still love my ibanez SRs and many others.
I have a Schecter Nikki Sixx Sig and it sounds like crap. It's extremely bright and thin. It had EMG X and I got rid of those. I've tried a few different pups and currently it has 80s big pole jazz bass special pups. It's better but still too bright and lacking bass. It's a really nice basd

Bass, neck thru and good hardware. I use the same rotosound as on all my basses. I'm going to swap pups again, I'm looking at 3. From experience DiMarzio model pj are killer and modern sounding. Used for years. Next, Duncan 1/4 era as they're pretty scooped and dark, could tone it down and last geezers. Had them in a squire for a while, great but might be too old school. I need to o boost bass and cut treble or I'm gna end up getting rid of it.

Think so? I know the geezers are mid heavy, I remember the DiMarzios as being more modern and thick.
Well I just traded for a bass with a Geezer and it definitely has more highs than the NP4... I'll admit a little ignorance with the DiMarzio pickups, I just assumed that they are heralded for modern tone which I associate with HiFi treble.
I will remove it tomorrow
It's a vintage modified 70s p body routed for a j pickup!
With a Steve harris neck and a loaded tony franklin guard/pickup setup from stratosphere !
Can always take it off, & it looks good in the light - unique, too.

I've messed with the height and I use rotosound 66. Bright yes but it's the string I use for all my basses.

Hi Eric, sorry to see you go. Of the short time I have been here you have run a great club. Hopefully someone dedicated will take over and keep it going. I am not volunteering, I am a newbie to TB and still learning the ropes. But am sure there is a qualified person willing to do it to keep the exchange of PJ information, ideas, and pictures flowing.

In the early days (mid 80s) I used both full on with tone wide open. Now all bets are on with no favourite as such. I'm yet to find a truly unusable setting, but my default would be mid-focussed, so more J than P with tone rolled back on the small cap (I have a choice of 3) and take it from there...
Can I join? It's a 'jazz bass' but with PJ pickups. 
@G On Bass has offered to take over as the head of the club… He is a standup guy and a great TBer.

@aah_scary that aerodyne is sweet looking! Does the binding bother you forearm at all?
I used to use both pickups full on everything like @SteveCS but now go from one to the other and a mix. I think I prefer the neck, but then again I prefer the neck pup on my jazz.
