There have been four threads with the words "learn," "notes" and "fretboard" in the title and none of them is even remotely like what you describe.

If we expand the search to "learn" and "fretboard," there are 18 threads, but still only two in the past two years and neither of those is what you describe.

There have been five threads with the words "memorize" and "fretboard" in the title, and again, none of them is even remotely like what you describe. Only one of those was started within the past two years (most were much older) and that one was started by a member with 15 years experience here who did not end up banned.

So I remain skeptical.

Here you go buddy. The guys name was PTSD, watch how quickly this guy gets singled out by the mods, and notice he wasn't being argumentatitve, he merely expressed an opinion, was attacked by 2 or 3 guys, defended himself without any insults, profanities, nothing, and he gets kicked off.
"take your argument elsewhere" when he didn't even start an argument, he did nothing more than express the same opinion that some have expressed on this thread. At best he was off topic, but you can see how he was responding to a reply to one of his posts in which he was on topic. I honestly don't see how this was justified at all. When I read about it I got the wrong idea about this site and for a long time stayed away, I thought damn, they don't even let you share an opinion, what kind of forum is that?

It's OK, I forgive you for thinking I was lying to you. By the way it wasn't that hard to find and was named almost exactly what I said it was, though the alleged argument was buried in the thread on the 5th or 6th page, so I'm not surprised you didn't find it. I totally get not wanting to spend the time looking but I think you may have been quick to assume I just fabricated the whole thing. I was pretty detailed in my description, im surprised you thought I was that creative to have made all that up.

Anyway I wasn't really trying to say anything about it other than that I was surprised the same thing didn't happen here, and that I've always thought the guy was treated unfairly.

Lol. It looks like the guy you're referring to came into a thread about memorizing the fingerboard and made a bunch of absurd statements like, "theory is more of a hindrance than it is helpful," and then people disagreed with him, and the thread was eventually closed. He wasn't banned for life. In fact, he was active on TB weeks after that thread was closed.

But, hey, thanks for coming back here almost a month later to tell me that thread you incorrectly described was easy to find.
