I see alot of people saying they made "Bone head" moves when they were kids to some of these basses that can go for alot of Cash now-a days. But why. What makes what you did bone head? Who cares if you painted it different, or if you changed the pickups. Is that not the point of playing bass or have i lost it? I thought bass was about having fun, Playing a bass you love, Looking cool. Yeah for collectors i can see why this would be a big deal. But for a player? I would rather own a 1970's P bass that had some battle marks, then one in pristine condition without a hair ever touching it (given that both were the same price) My dad has a '56 strat. Me and him play the **** out of it. It is beaten to hell and light and honestly i wouldnt trade it for anything. He just recently sold his Jimmy Page les paul, and he said h was glad. Because now he can get a 70's black beauty that is a player. well anyways. Sorta derailed. He said owning guitars that you cant touch sucks. I mean i played the Jimmy page once i think. And it was cool and all, but like he said, you have to be carful with it. blah blah blah. So why does it matter if its painted pink or blue. Its your bass, give it some battle scars and give it a story! Nothing is more annoying to me then a bass that is never played. So why do you guys hit yourselfs more comfortable with your basses? Im actually thinking about stripping amber (2002 American Deluxe P) Painting her Olympic white, installing the 70's hardware (thumb rest, bridge and pickup covers) and aging that Olympic white for that amazing cream color! Or ill go with Puke burst
But guys play your bass, nothing is sexier then a beaten up bass thats seen more gigs than a groupie!
TL;DR Why collect basses that you never play. You are just taking basses away from bassist!
With that being said, Lets see some custom basses (videos also welcomed!) (Custom/re Finish or modded)/Beaten (by beaten in mean Mojo, not abuse...) basses/ or you "gigging" with your bass!
Here is Me with Amber at Queen Bee. (i mess up here and there, and never got then amp how i like it. but im somewhat pleased with my performance... xD)
