Playing live in a room

Cool, but a lot more expensive and impractical than ear plugs. Ear plugs fit into a pocket and are cheap.

Also, I can drink while wearing ear plugs.

Gas mask makes that a lot more complex.
Get one of those old timey ones with the canister at the end of a hose. Pop off the canister, turn the hose into a beer bong, pop the canister back on. Easy-peasy.
Edit: I see modern technology has passed me by with the sippy-cup gas mask.

Hi,

I've got nothing against "loud". Excess volume is what I don't appreciate, volume for volume's sake. Sometimes the acoustics of the room will limit your acceptable decibel levels and no amount of EQ will "fix" it. I don't care what kind of music you play, if you are hurting your audience you are not doing them a service and need to turn down. Dynamics are more exciting than just "loud". I don't care what genre you are playing, too loud is too loud... even when the patrons, club owners, sound guys, or band members don't realize it.

Yes, I'm an old fuddy duddy who's played all kinds of music in all kinds of venues at all kinds of volumes. I now suffer from tinnitus and urge everyone to be reasonable, unless you don't care about your hearing. :meh:

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
I played in band that were loud insanely loud... as loud AS THE ROOM COULD TOLERATE AND STILL SOUND GOOD...i routinely vibrated glassware and bottles off the bar with the bass rig loud.
But some rooms sounded like @55 as loud as we liked to play... so we turned down... as loud as you can get while not sounding like sh!t... ok by /\/\3... proceed

Oh and I still like loud ....witness....
Mesa v12 1200 watts. 210 w 115.
Replacing 15 with another 210.
It is LOUD like you the low A blurs your vision loud.
But I have little opportunity to use it in my current band.
The 20 sum tins out here seem to have an issue with a real legit 80s metalhead....
Oh well.....
I'm having loads of fun watching people smile and dance. Instead of the sea of long hair and leather jacketed angry dudes..
Not that I don't bust out killing in the name of. And sober at open jams....

I tend to go the opposite route. Relatively low power head... giant cab.
