The possession I have had for the longest time is my 75 Ibanez Flying V Bass that I bought in 1977- It has been with me my whole adult life.

Early 80's I was referred to a club owner (keys player) who was looking at putting together a house band for a special event & dinner club type establishment. They specialized in real home style cooking and family atmosphere. He'd grown tired of hiring bands that couldn't play a variety of music to keep his broad based clientele in the room after dinner. While trying to come up with a name he was doing liquor inventory and decided on Special Blend (brand of Rye Whiskey). He figured it described what the band was about. When he eventually sold the club (health reasons) we kept the name with 3 original members together for 23 years.

Man I sure miss that house gig. Wednesday night rehearsals, show up with bass, plug in, practice 1 - 1 1/2 hours max. Regular gig Thursday - Saturday with usually 1-2 other special event gigs in the same room the rest of the week.

At 12, I went in to buy the guitar in the window of my town's music store. The employee went to the back to get the case. He returned with a triangular plain cardboard box with "telecopy" written on it in marker.
