I'm awaiting a Precision body with dual Jazz Bass pickups. I'm a precision fan who hates Jazz Bass Bodies but understands that they have a sonic purpose! It's getting a Warmoth Neck and an MJT body. While I'm waiting - please share your Burgundy Mist Metallic anything. Basses, Guitars, Acoustics, Ukes, Cars, Etc. !
Burgundy Mist you say? Let me drag out my lefty MIM Jazz, it's something like that... Old pics, looks different in the bright sun, but I think it's Burgundy Mist?
Ahh, right, it's just wine red, sorry, but still a cool color. It wishes it was Burgundy Mist though.
2002 Fender FSR MIM. Burgundy Mist, exactly how they looked back in the day (except for the fancy knobs of course). You can't tell by these pics but the guard has a greeny hue, pretty much like the originals.
I worked at a Fender dealer then and lived these. I had bought sunburst one before these were announced. Sadly, it was my 2nd jazz bass that I didn't bond with. I didn't do matching headstock but it looks awesome.
I have been interested in the Epiphone Embassy Pro and have seriously thought about doing a nitro refin in something awesome and metallic. That is a work of art!!!!!
Thanks. It's a refinished CIJ PB70-US/Ash with a CS '59 pickup. Oh, and a new (old) pickguard. I'd posted a couple more pics here: The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)
Thanks! Ha, they just look like that in the pic. A happy accident I guess, the silks are actually gray. The strings are an NOS set of Dean Markley flats that I had laying around for years....real old school thumpy sounding, a good match-up for this bass. When I got the the bass it already had Hipshot tuners and a type "A" bridge, and DiMarzio stacked jazz pups installed (which you can see in the pic). I changed out the bridge for the Fender vintage style, replaced the Hipshot tuners with Gotoh Res-o-lites for better balance and a little less overall weight. I've since dumped the blah sounding DiMarzios for a pair of Fralin single coils. It kills now.
I have a red bass that I am totally, completely smitten with, but I keep thinking of a refin, and BMM keeps heading the list of options...
Had my ugly and beat blueburst '88 Stingray refined in BM last year. Added a mint/b/w guard and it's a beaut!
