I just had to post a a thread about this as it is, I think, of real interest to any Jazz bass fans. But please, no arguments about whether it's "worth it". The truth is, anything is worth precisely what someone is prepared to pay for it - no more, and no less. The fact that this hasn't sold yet may or may not be significant. Whoever does become the owner at whatever price thay pay, I hope they enjoy the instrument.

Okay, sermon over, get a load of this. I don't think I've seen a vintage Fender this old in quite such astonishingly good nick. Great pics, too...

That was my first thought, but if I'm paying $65K for a bass that thing BETTER be well packed and shipped to me overnight by a security team carrying it on silk-covered pillows and guarding it with automatic weapons. $275 sounds pretty reasonable for that kind of TLC.

I could see if this bass was owned and played by some famous artist of that era (to many to list if talking about the mid 60's to early 70's) it would be worth the asking price but; thats a big maybe depending on the player. I do agree though, it is worth what the buyer is willing to pay, and yes at 65k, it had better have all the bells and whistles when being shipped.

I think its beautiful. I saw a 59 strat in chartreuse metallic flake that was also a factory finish job and it was stunning.

Had I the expendable cash, it would be mine, even though I'm not in a vintage direction or a Jazz bass user these days.

If I could afford $65k for a bass I would spend the extra $1k and fly over to see,play and bring it home myself. Ofcourse then Id have to check it at baggage :scowl: On second the best way to get it home may well be the highest rated over night/same day shipper,fully insured.
