Personally, I think that is a BEAUTIFUL finish for a jazz bass! Have always had a pretty quiet hankering for a silver/gold sparkle old-style jazz bass and this confirms it for me :) absolutely aquired taste though, I understand that.

As for this though..!? Had no idea DiMarzio Model J's added SO much onto the asking price of a bass these days - makes my Marcus Miller worth about £5000 in comparison, sounds fair doesn't it ;) PM me.

If your hypothetical multi, multi-millionaire spent that much on that bass then yes, I'd have to agree that he's not the brightest bulb on the tree.

I think that bass is really cool. And while I think that $65,000 is a lot of money, if I could afford it then it wouldn't bother me. I suspect that most of the people who are complaining that it's too expensive can't afford to buy it. If I had a spare $1,000,000 then I would certainly think about it, and there are plenty of people with that kind of money.

Simply not true at all any more. eBay changed their system so that images on the auction are cached and no matter what the seller does to the original picture, the change does NOT affect the active or finished auction. I list motorcycles on eBay for a living. I used to list a quick auction when I got a brand new bike from the factory, throw a stock photo on photobucket just to get the auction rolling, then change the stock photo to a real photo as soon as I had the bike built and photographed. Then one day I swapped out the photos in photobucket and nothin... no change to the auction. I must've hit F5 a million times... nothin. I even looked on another computer to make sure my computer's cache wasn't somehow messed up. Sure enough, there was no change to the auction. Maybe it's different on regular eBay auctions, but I'd imagine it's the same across the board.

I've seen it done a few times, but not on this expensive of an item.

It used to be possible, like I said, but a few months back, this was made a problem of the past, at least on eBay motors.

Only man's 'moger' (Scottish slang term for an unattractive lass), is another man's beauty and IMHO she's a beauty! :D

I don't know about the rest of you but when I'm on the 'bay I tend to hit the 'list from highest price to lowest price' option that way you get rid of all the cr4p that's in the $0-$100 range.

Setting a price of $65k guarantees you sit pretty close to the top if not the top, as is the case right now, of the listings. You then solicit 'serious' offers from 'serious' folks. I know I'd drop $25-$30k for this bass, once I had flown up in my private jet to personally examined it. Of course all of that is in my dreams for the moment, but there is a big Powerball jackpot on Wednesday.....it will be mine!:D

OMG! I challenge anyone to justify that OUTRAGEOUS price. What a complete farce. No way is it worth it. I find it very significant that it hasn't sold. ;) LOL :spit:

the rarest, best sounding alembic could be worth nothing if no one would be willing to pay for it. If you get "ripped off" and pay alot for some trash that was your fault -you should of done your due diligence. Maybe someone else would pay that amount becasue you did.
