Please title this thread

Because I have no idea what to title it...

Before going to bed last night, one of the guys from one of the bands I play in posted a message on Facebook referencing a 1987 movie with Shelly Long. I went to YouTube to check the movie out, and saw that he had a somewhat significant role in that movie (one of the major credits).

I know this guy now for about 7 years, and know him pretty well (we've hung out lots outside of just playing music), and I never had a clue. I knew he did a lot of TV commercials as a kid, and some Broadway stuff, but this was as a young adult. Never made a single mention of it... which is odd to me, yet admirable.

I have a 5 hour drive with him today for a gig in Pittsburg so we'll have lots to talk about.

And in an additional interesting side note - with the same band: I used to watch Law and Order SVU in bed to put me to sleep (inspired dreams of a young Marishka). One night they start interviewing a dude who looks just like the singer in this band. Sounds like him, too. I wake my wife up and ask her to look at the screen. She says, "Yeah. That's Jon," and goes back to sleep.

I'm playing with a bunch of TV and movie stars today in PA!

I feel so un-famous.

pretty neat story/realization re: your bandmates/friends. and i agree with your take on his 'unassumingness'. nice to know that some folks never get too full of themselves!

i have a few of those stories, too...maybe i'll drop some in a later post.

My wife's cousin wrote for Alf. My oldest sister in law is in "The Message" video by Grandmaster Flash. The maid of honor at our wedding is in Ghost of Girlfriend's Past for a couple shots in the beginning.

Please tell your wife's cousin thank you. I had (probably still have) 2 VHS tapes full of ALF episodes that I would always go back and watch (especially on sick days... lay on couch and watch ALF)!
Surprised the tapes didn't wear out...

Was thrilled when I saw some channel was showing reruns last year... I could still quote the show nearly line for line.
(Don't know if that's something to be proud of, but oh well...)
