Hey, I know lots of people who know people. But YOU really know somebody. Or at least somebody who was once somebody, a celebrity in his day. I won't say "has-been" because that person is still the same person, with all the same talents and qualities that got him really good gigs. Man, just be a pal. No idol worship needed. It sounds like he's a regular guy once you get past the IMDB references. Just be real, be yourself, be a friend.
I have a few old friends who have "made it" in one way or another and are now living a comfortable suburban life, kind of out of the spotlight, but still in the biz. They don't make a big deal of it. I don't make a big deal of it. We're pals. We cross paths when we have a chance, catch up on old times, shoot the breeze, etc. Ain't no thang. They think it's cool that I'm still playing and doing decent gigs. We talk about getting together at one of our gigs somewhere to sit in or jam. One of these days the stars will align.
You're pretty cool. Just continue your bromance and be the lovable guy you've always been. Be happy to have another friend, no matter their circle of influence, or lack thereof. Real brotherly love is much more than "What can you do for me?"
