I answered local gigs, recording and collector. I have 13 basses, which is a bit of overkill, but they all get played and I enjoy each and every one.

Local gigs, and home recording... 'Maintain My Sanity' is missing from the poll.
3 for gigs, which also get used for practice at home and rehearsals with the band, plus another one for goofing around when Mrs T has some tunes going upstairs.

I chose regional touring because we do a limited local pub scene (by our own choosing) and tour all-around for festivals, civic shows and requests from out-county hires.
typical "garage/basement" band - 4 guys in their early 60's, friends from HS (the 2 git players friends since grade 2)...we've played a few shows for fun not $...BL loves to record us and mix albums in his basement studio...we have 12-16 CD's of all original material, I've lost count.....think Zep/Stones/Beatles influence and the Black Crowes Remedy would be a one off decent sound/style comparison even though we don't play that song, hah!
In our minds there are at least a dozen songs that should be/could be hits
we sprinkle in less than a dozen covers for our own fun and to perk up the audience....we jam every Fri night Oct-May, then the BL heads to the cottage and his golf tournaments...
we socialize outside of the band with wives and have a good time all 'round

I play 1-2 time a month at local clubs and private parties. At my age (74) that is more than enough.
Use mine for local gigs. But, a Fender bass also makes for a good personal protection device. If a brawl ever broke out at a show, I would pity the fool that tried to run at me on stage.

Have done a little home recording with it but primarily use it for gigs and practice. Prior to Covid I'd play gigs up to an hour and a half away. That would be just below Bellingham, WA. Since then it's all been within about 30-miles away.
Beginner here, started 1.5y ago but limited to 1-2 practice per week... trying to step up to learning to play with others this year.
That would be my dream life when I hit my 60
