Bass uke player for 10 years with a 35 person ukulele group. We meet every other Sunday and Wednesday in the backyard of one member, plus play a local farmers' market every 2 months, a local 5K marathon in March, and in September, the Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival. Four to five of us used to go to UCLA/Mattel Children's Hospital and roam the rooms playing for the kids and donating ukuleles, but covid put a stop to that. We're looking to start that again soon.

I'm more into keys these days, and stopped bass gigging a while now. However, I recently started teaching a co-worker guitar, and my wife's a drummer, so we may have a garage band soon.

Mostly local gigs (restaurant, bars, corporates, weddings) with some longer drive-to gigs that might be in province or in neighboring provinces (e.g., Ontario, New Brunswick). The odd fly-to festival gig.

I checked at the Rite Aid and lube for sex is way cheaper than what I paid for my basses and amps.

I use it as a part of what keeps me feeling alive. At 76, after playing for 57 years now, the bass is deeply engrained in my psyche. It is me… I still pick up the bass pretty much every day, as I have for most of my life. I am well aware of how fortunate I am to have something like the bass to carry me through the many ups and downs of life.

Years ago I bolted skateboard trucks to my bass and I’ve been commuting on it ever since.
