Im one of those folks that switches pickups as needed including blends......when blending, I sometimes slightly favor the bridge and sometimes I slightly favor the neck, depends....Still, about 85% of the time are both pickups full.

When recording, i love messing with the two volume controls in order to access all the interesting in-between tones and textures. But for practical purposes, when playing live, I usually leave the neck pu on full, and bridge at about 25%

Just curious... If you play a bass with 2 pickups, how do you typically blend them, and why (that is, what is your tonal goal)?
I use my Osterizer on Low #6 setting. :roflmao:
Seriously, all of my two pup basses are very different but my Geddy tends to set my own personal standard. I dime the bridge pup and keep the neck pup around 90-95%. For me this pushes plenty of power from the bass and keeps a little more treble bite to the sound that cuts through for me. My other 2 pup basses get similar treatment with slight variation depending on the bass. My G&L, for instance gets both pups dimed but I will dial back the bass just a touch.

I play a jazz, if I put it towards my bridge I get a dry sound but with a lot of tone, I like that quite a bit.
When I put it on the neck I have less tone, and the fundamental is more present, that's also pretty nice.
When I put them together I get the best of both worlds.

If my understanding is correct, it's not possible to blend my neck and bridge pickups when I select both with my VVTT wiring. And if both pickups are selected, one tone knob controls both. The independent VVTT knobs work when one or the other pickup is selected (or so I am given to understand). So I leave them dimed.
