I stumbled upon them last year and love their " Pay as you play " financing options. They just take your debit or CC and breakdown the item ( $300+) into monthly payments. No interest, and no sales tax ( New Jersey ?) which is amazing-I live in California.

I bought an Ampeg micro VR last week, and two of the cabs that usually pair with the head last year ( SVT-210AV) through zzounds. I got a sweet deal last year on an Ampeg pf-500 from GC for iirc 399, and recently I picked up a Roger Waters P off craigslist for 520$. Keep the eyes peeled at all times for a good deal, it's the hustler in me.

I am still a pretty amateur player, but one day I want to either find a EBMM Stingray around here or local CL for sub $1000 or most likely I will get a new one through zzounds with their payment plans. Same goes for a Tube head if I ever want to really indulge, the pay as you go is stress free IMO.

I was done paying for a bass 2 months early last month and recently I got an email that I "qualify" for more products that are not advertised on their site in their payment plan and now with no credit check. Did you guys get the same email?

No, but idk if I signed up for email verification. Initially after the first cabinet I paid off, one of the guys called my cell # asking how everything was, etc.. Iirc he offered me a 20% off a qualifying item ( might have been 10% actually ) but I declined. Since then I purchased another cabinet and micro VR ( last week ). All three items have he same MSRP of 299$, so maybe they offer better incentiv s/deals on higher end items? I am still relatively young so I have been building my credit by paying off the gear, and slightly OT but I don't think it " hurts" or " dings" your credit if they check ( again I could be wrong ).

I checked BassStringsOnline and Musician's Friend, and Other, the other being Zzounds. They have a fantastic payment program for new gear over $250, and usually have what I want in stock. They've received most of my money over the past two years, followed by Musician's Friend then BSO.

I tried GC used recently - EB/MM Sterling - looked good but truss rod would not tighten & neck was way too forward bowed as in not playable - returned immediately & the bass was back up for sale the next day - I guess they don't care about fixing first & then selling - never again will I buy from GC - been avoiding them for years now

It's just like buying a used anything from anywhere. You have to know what you're looking at and what a good price is.

I've gotten some seriously good deals.
Mesa 400+ for $600 in like new condition
Multiple Ampeg SVT II Pros for $700
An Ampeg SVT II non pro for $700
A Fender Marcus Miller in like new condition for $400
A new (brand new) Mesa Walkabout combo for $450
A GK 400RB series 2 for $139
A GK 800RB horizontal switch in perfect shape for $200

One of the SVT II Pros was DOA. They sent it out for repair and the tech replaced all of the tubes and gave it a once over.

There's a vintage big box ProCo Rat for $109 at my local GC.

Whoever puts whatever I need on sale first loses out... Axemusic and LAMusic here in Canada both have poopy service but good prices and they haven't not beat any price I drunkingly stumble across. Usually takes weeks to even see an item shipped out (and five phone calls) bit it always gets here eventually... You just better hope its not damaged or you have a two month wait to even get credit.

Amazon if its over 75% off the MSRP.

Thousand dollar taste on a dime budget.
