I can, Radke doesn't have the best history when it comes to being a decent person, but to be fair the crew did lose the laptops.
You know, that quip was mildly humorous when Groening came up with it 20 years ago. Time for you to cop something newer from somebody, that one's all used up now.

I play in a group that used backing tracks in 1990 with 16 megs of memory...I still play in this group with 1 less member and we do everything 100% live. I use a octave/distortion pedal to fill up space when the guitar player takes a lead. We won't go back to backing tracks cause we enjoy what we do.
Most of the groups we perform with use backing tracks even if they have 6+ members. It's common and we are always asked by the sound guy if we have any. Back in 1990 we had to hide our sequencers/samplers behind the drums or amps cause it was not accepted at that time. One occasion they went off at the wrong time we took tons of grief from another band's members about it...we were cheating, not real, fake etc... to them. I think it's fine either way though.

I've wondered how many backup MacBook Pros Andrew from Sleaford Mods keeps/tours loaded with all the files he needs.
It's their gear, and when gear gets lost/stolen, sometimes you can hack it, and sometimes you can't. I remember when the Decemberists' trailer with all their gear got stolen, they had to cancel a month or two worth of shows, they couldn't just rent some axes/amps and rock it - their show was just more complicated than that. On the other hand I saw DeeDee Bridgewater play when her bassist's flight got canceled, and the show went on, the accordion player just played a rented bass guitar for a few songs where the bass part was most integral - that's jazz, though.
The problem here isn't that they were using laptops. Lots of people need tech to put on the show they put on. I'd hate to see Iron Maiden try to control their pyrotechnics without the proper tech.
The problem here is lack of redundancy. If you lose laptops, you should be able to restore backups to a machine purchased/rented locally and go.

So there’s this cover band that basically lipsyncs to backing tracks. They get tons of work because they always sound consistently great… no surprises. They even go out in the audience on supposed wireless links.
A few years back they were playing an outdoor gig in August. The heat took out their laptop with 20 minutes to go. They couldn’t even pull off a garbage blues jam without their backing tracks. It was both pathetic and highly entertaining.

If you can find the monitor feed from pink floyds the wall tour in the early 80's it also has prompts like these on it. It's not a new phenomenon.
Of course bands are going to perform with tracks. I get it. At the same time, I think it says something that those bands still want to display the trappings of performed music, such as guitars and microphones. I think there is still a primordeal sense of the difference between performed and recorded music, that is at least something the musicians themselves still want to experience, even if the audience doesn't care. But the audience would sense that something was amiss if the guitars vanished.
