I think bass players in general could learn a lot from Cliff Williams. There's an art to simplicity.

A good example of an ACDC song I used to play is 'A Whole Lot of Rosie". If you listen to the chorus, you'll find the guitars going from A to G. Cliff, on the other hand, stays on the A the whole time. This creates tension. At the end of the chorus, he joins the guitars when they do that little G/F# turnaround. This creates release. Simple, yet brilliant.

All of a sudden this turned into the Cliff Williams board. "Listen to Highway To Hell?" The song?! Because in the song, he plays the Chorus ... and I think that's it... but I forget who said it but yeah AC/DC is based around Angus, and Bon Scott ruled! But all together, I'd rather listen to a Korn bass solo than an AC/DC one.

Yeah, not only is he good using tension and release concepts, he's also a master of dynamics...brilliant!!

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Listen to the albums. Sure Angus is great and Bon Scott was the greatest rock and roll singer of all time but you are forgetting the tight rhythm section of Malcolm, Cliff, and Phil. That is what drives AC/DC.

Has anybody ever heard the cd LAPD? It's basically Munky, David's, and Fieldy's pre-Korn band, and they had a different singer (Richard Morales) and played Suicidal/Faith No More type funk-rock. You actually hear Fieldy PLAYING on that record. Blew my mind.

LAPD KICKS SO MUCH A$$!

I found a couple of their songs on the net and burned them onto a cd.

I totally forgot about that, anyone who has heard fieldy's playing in LAPD would totally reconsider making fun of him.

I doubt you can still find LAPD anywhere but if you do, check it out.

Yay! I hope so! I like AC/DC much better than Korn anyways. You go ahead and listen to that solo. I know that Korn is cool and Fieldy is a good bassist... but I just enjoy AC/DC more... Who knows why, and who cares? Oh... and regarding Fieldy's feelings. He doesn't care what a buncha computer geeks on the internet say about him. He has a good band, a bunch of fans, and a truckload of success behind him. Don't worry about protecting this guy, he's all grown up now. I am sure the only reaction he would have to this board's rants would be a good laugh.

I cant see why if you dont showboat you suck. well hold the bottom. cliff williams has a job to hold the bottom and he does a great job at it. cliff is also a great guy. he came out to a club i was playing in on ft myers beach fl and he was very cool. i play alot of slapping and did he say i suck no!!!!! he came over and bought me a drink and we talked bass. very cool for a rock star. yeah i said rock star! so think of your job its to play music or it might be just for fun ,but every bass line has a groove some are easy and some you may never do right. think about it you may get that break and someone may say to you OH YOUR JUST THE BASS PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i listened to it and still thought it was boring. not my kind of music in the least.
