Is anyone else having issues with popup adds on talkbass pages? These "extra shop" things pop up on every page, thread, forum etc.... I have done the opt out forever on these, and next thread/page BAM! my page is covered again, to the point that I can't read any posts. It's only happen on this sight- I hope this isn't something that's connected to this sight, because it renders it just about unusable!

#1 Always use Chrome - Never use Internet Explorer

#2 Install AdBlock for your browser.

#3 Check if some other toolbar has been installed on your browser. One could have been installed accidentally and you're not aware of it. Even if its disabled, its still active and could be serving the ads. Never....EVER install any third-party toolbar.
google chrome made no difference. I have adblock on, I'll check on the toolbars

this sounds right to me.....I may be ditching talkbass then! It's unusable at this point.

Hmm, this is really odd. I've never had a single popup in the 3 years I've been visiting talkbass.

I'm certainly no expert, but it has to be something on the individual PCs for those folks to be getting popups.

I despise popups, by the way.

It sounds like Adware to me, but people are saying they scanned their PCs and found nothing.

So I don't know. We need an expert...

Talkbass is on my adblock's "whitelist" because the ads are very unobtrusive and unobjectionable. It's my way of being a "supporting" member. I find it hard to believe that this isn't the work of malware of some kind. (IE should be considered a form of malware though amirite?)

At work, I don't sign in to the site, and see ads and popups everywhere. At home, I'm signed in, and I guess since I paid my money, there are no ads or pop ups at all. For that reason alone, site membership is well worth the money for me.

Dude you have the infamous "Russian Popup Virus" I have removed like 10 of these from varies friend's computers. Here's what you do: download malwarbites or some other free antivirus/antimalarware and hope that it detects the virus. Otherwise you will have to have someone knowledgeable manually remove it, which is quite tedious.

EDIT: Also get adblock plus! It's free and works great

I was using TrendMicro, and Ad Block+, and I used Ccleaner and Malwarebytes to try to clean things up.
What worked for me mostly was to copy the popup address and put it into my blocked sites within IE 11.
Note: These popups weren’t talkbass ads, they were porno ones, and another to update a media player and some sort of flash player.

Another problem that I might have had and I am still having problems with is Adobe Flash player download, I don’t know why a program such as Adobe can’t have a single button to click to update their programs (and enough with the adding the tool bar that they have as a default install, Adobe I hate that).
