Portable amps, cabs and combos

It's made for acoustic bass, but I played electric through one a few times recently and the AcousticImage Coda R is just dadgum amazing. It uses a downward firing 10" with a 5" mid + tweeter aimed forward. 400w@4ohm, 500@2...

Thanks for posting and updating your lists, Stumbo. They will be valuable references for many fellow TBers.

I must reinforce nutdog's comments regarding Acoustic Image products. www.acousticimg.com. They make top-quality heads, combos and cabinets.

I have a Clarus (III) head and a Focus (III) head and, to be honest, while there are some fine products on your list of heads, I wouldn't trade either the Clarus or the Focus for any of them. The AIs are small, lightweight, rugged, comparatively warm for solid state heads, are rated for 2 ohms (a big deal to me) and are made in the U.S.

Bob Gollihur is a fine Acoustic Image dealer [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], as is GuitarX (www.guitarx.com, now mail-order only) here in Denver.

Thanks again for sharing the info you've compiled.

can someone help me?

i want a clean bass sound ( I play a Musicman Bongo 6 H/H) so it has to sound good on the highs and lows

my budget is around $700 to $800 and i need a light rig with between 150 watts to 300 watts towards the 200watt mark though i would use it for practise as well which is why 300 is a bit much

any advice? i want something that will last for a few years though

Check out a Line 6 Lowdown LD175 or LD300 Pro. Both sound great with EBMM basses and offer a wide variety of tone with built-in effects.

If you see something you like, you can always inquire about the price, check out the manufacturer's website, check TB's classifieds or look into CL to find out if there's anything in used equipment that will fit your needs.

Just FYI

I've owned the Bag End S15d and there is no way its 42LBS. My scale said 52LBS. Also the Schroeder 1210 is about 52LBS unless you get the Neo version.

Great thread!

I just tossed one of mine on the scale - 42.4 pounds. Maybe yours was a S15X-D? They're supposedly about 10# heavier.

Stumbo, can you add the S15-D to the list? IMO it's one of the primo lightweight 1x15 cabs.

Flite 1x15

I've got a Flite 1x15 and, loaded with an Eminence Deltalite 2515, it comes in below 30 lbs. With some of the newer swankier neodymium drivers out there you should easily be able to get this cabinet down below 25 lbs.

What he said. I've got an older Focus 1 Series II that's 400 watts of pure dynamite in a 7 lb package the size of a hotel bible.
