Portaflex cutting out poll

To the best of my knowledge - it was a new head. Looked new, was packaged as new, even smelled new.
I wonder how many total units have been sold so far.
Here on TB (as of today's poll numbers at 2pm PT), with 69 members taking the poll, the results are showing that:
- 23% of the PF500 users on TB had cut outs (13 of 55 members reporting)
- 40% of the PF350 users had cut outs (4 out of 10 members reporting)
69 does not seem like a significant number, unless they only sold a couple hundred units (which seems unlikely).
Still sucks if it happened to be your amp though.

Honestly, I think this is a little silly (sorry, no offense meant). If you dive this thing hard enough it probably will cut out. Some may do it earlier, and that could be a problem/issue. Mine is fine until I send in a red hot signal from the synth into it (and using 4 ohms). Yes, it will cut, but if I pushed any amp hard enough it likely would have issue. So I cannot answer your poll as I think anyone could drive this to cut out if they try hard (and I had to try hard).

well, it is a poll, and it is true, and valid within the sample of the poll, which is probably not statistically significant based on the total number of units manufactured and/or sold.
the experience of players on TB who are honestly reporting problems with their PF300/500 amps is as valid as any other thread of "amp issues" here on TB (of which there are many).

Defensive? Hardly. I think you are a little disappointed that yours hasn't given you problems. Haters are going to be haters no matter what. Enjoy your poll.
silly rabbit, it's not my poll (for one thing), and now you are showing your real colors on this issue. You have no conceivable idea what I think.
My interest in the PF300/500 threads here on TB, including this poll, is as follows. Like any intelligent consumer, I am genuinely interested in understanding the experiences of other users, good or bad, in order to make a more informed buying decision, and then to have an better user experience based on the real world input from others I trust (as in most of my fellow TBers). On any potential piece of gear. See how that makes sense ?
The reality is that there are users here who love their PF amps/cabs, there are others who don't care for them too much. Then are those who's amps/cabs work perfectly, and those who have experienced some technical issues. Hey, no big deal, that's pretty much expected for any piece of gear here. Don't take it so personally.
For the record I am perfectly happy with the PF500/115HE rig I am trying out at the moment. So far, it sounds very good and works as hoped. I also don't ever expect to push it to it's limits as the kind of gigs I do never call for ear splitting volume.

See bolded part. Do you really believe that 40% of buyers have had problems with the PF350? Or 23% of buyers had problems with the PF500? Not likely. So it's hardly scientific.
Funny, this would never deter me from buying one, as they sound awesome, and ampeg has been great about replacing them.
Wouldn't you know, I just pissed and no matter how much I tried to turn up the volume it was way too quiet. Not only that but, halfway through, I started farting out. I think my prostate needs a re-tube.

I know you are a strong and vocal advocate for Ampeg gear Jimmy, and good for you, but I was the one who made the statement that you bolded. So, its seems pretty self evident that I do not think that 40% of ALL PF series buyers are having the issues reported here on TB.
It's just a mathematically accurate summary of the poll to date, and while the total numbers (probably) do not represent a statistically significant sample on the total global sales volume of this amp series, it does accurately depict the percentages of those on TB, who are self reporting problems.
I also have not claimed any "scientific" relevance to this poll (which I did not initiate), it simply lets TB users who have had problems tally up the actual numbers of those on TB who have had the reported problems.
I believe the intent of the Poll OP was to clarify the number of users on TB who were actually having the cut-out issue, and perhaps take that issue out of the regular PF300/500 mega thread.

It is not scientific. But it is alarming.
Lets just hope it is just that members of talkbass are just unluckier with these amps then the general public
My music store owning buddy put my PF-500 in his repairs department earlier this week...they couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with it.
I used it at our 3-1/2 hour pratice Wed. night, No prob.
Played around with it at home Thurs. night, No prob.
Used it at a 4 hour job last night, No prob.
Plugged it in at home this morning.......there's a "slight" smell of burnt wiring coming from the fan!
