Post Count?

Well if being read is an indication of value, you may as well remove the DB side of this forum altogether. Would you like me to start a poll in the suggestion box? :D

Knock yourself out. Keep in mind, though, that Paul's a DB player, and so is one of the other admins. Personally, I like the DB forum's chances to survive the results of your poll. :)

Also, from the DB perspective, DB OT is 9th in terms of posts in the DB forums (out of 18 forums). Not a peep has been heard about the issue of post counts from anyone down in DB. Granted, most of the regulars would have to find their dentures and put them in before complaining, which might have something to do with why I haven't heard anything yet, but...

I got my first supporting membership around this time last year for these two reasons, the 2nd moreso than the first, as I dont have much money, or anything really to sell. If you look at my feedback I have a total of 1 (at 100% mind you!), and that was from a trade I made. I did happen to sell my bass cab via the classifieds (that buyer hasnt left any feedback, but since I probably wont be selling anything else via TB I dont really care).

So in actuality I really only paid so that I could get an avatar so that people in OT would recognize me. I think thats a little silly, really. $20 just for a little square jpg. I think everyone has the right to an avatar, if only for easy identification purposes.

My dues are up soon, Im sure. I'm pretty broke, being as I just moved into a place with my girlfriend and have rent to pay, as well as a speeding ticket. I most likely wont be a supporting member soon. Despite the whole post count issue I will still come to TB to mingle with my bass playing brethren. I like this place, regardless, and Im often bored at work.

Will I cough up some cash when I have a little extra dough in the future? Maybe, if only cuz I like having an avatar.

That being said, you all know where I stand on this issue, and I probably dont have much more to say in regards to it.I

Hey, that's my reason too.
For the avatar and being recognized.
Because I love the community and I feel part of it.

So it's my token of appreciation to the guys running this thing.

Has the postcount-padding stopped now in DB OT?

Did they have a stereotype the double bassist above you thread?
Heh, now that would be irony at its finest. :p

:ninja:

I've been a supporting member since the program's inception. I liked this place when I first came here, learned alot from here and wanted to make sure this place stuck around so others could benefit from it as well. I will probably continue to be a supporting member as long as I stay here. Today I rarely touch my Basses (been between bands for awhile now), however I still like to come here as I feel a real sense of community here, especially in OT.

I really don't know what brought on the Admin's decision to stop counting posts on the OT sections, but if that's the way it's going to be than that's the way it's going to be. From my perspective (speaking as a 9 year member), the fascination with post counts faded a long time ago, and maybe even moreso after the Admin's moved the counts to the user's profile.

Never. DB OT gets hundreds of posts every six months. Hundreds, I tell you!

We did, but it kind of petered out because all the replies came out as, "you're old, crusty, a music nerd, and addicted to Bach". Once that's been said about 20 times...

I wonder if the Admin's had put the post count policy in place without any sort of formal announcement, would anyone really have noticed?

I know I wouldn't have.

Hey... all of you not happy with the new policy:

do your own accounting.

< see like what I did

or ^ for the people not on narrowposts

That's sticking it to the man. ;)

You can do a count up daily with the advanced search function.

Why am I the only bright kid here? :ninja:

note: admin liking not guaranteed. :hiding:

I know I wouldn't have.

we all recognized lately that the post content in OT lately had degraded somewhat, so i came up with this brilliant idea to help inspire some good stuff.

y'all are welcome! :D :hyper:

bet none of you guys actually have checked your post counts since, either. :eyebrow:
