Post Your 70's Ampeg SVT

Yeah, I've told this story before. I'm originally a New Hope kid, back in winter 1969/1970Mom took me over to the Schmitt Music store in Robinsdale Center; they were a brand new AMPEG dealer.

The sales guy a younger guitar type sat me down and I was in the mood for a step up. We played both a 100 watt twin 15" (I'm not sure of the model) which didn't impress me at all, and we fired up the brand new SVT with a single cab, it had two, but there's no way I could have even begun to afford two so we pulled one.

I was a little wierded out by the 8-10" speakers as I was playing a Kalamazoo Bass-30 at the time with two 10's and I thought I needed 40" speakers. But he convinced me by wizzing the volume control to about 4-5 with me banging out one of our favorite Iron Butterfly tunes... This was a huge store, but you could hear pianos singing, sizzler cybals sizzling and the roof of the building buzzing (Amp department was in a loft) I might have even got wood, it was amazing at the time.

The manager came wheeling out of the office, screaming. He was more of a grand piano DICK and basically ushered me out of the store. Well Mom didn't need to commit to the $25 or $30 a month to buy me that amp...

Just to show that manager, who is probably dead now how much I think of him I wired 6 SVT-4PRO's together just so he can rollover in his grave. If I knew who he was I'd put him on my list of guys whom I try and visit their graves once a year. Then I could wizz on his too.

Here's my old rig...a pair of 1974 SVT heads with a 1974 8-10 AND a mint V4B cabinet. I used to run a stereo chorus with the effects into the 8-10 and the direct thru the V4B. The V4B was actually heard 6 miles away at an outdoor concert.
I'm rebuilding a 1991 SVT II right now and looking forward to getting an NV610 to piss off the neighborhood with.
Pay no attention to the girl behind the black dress.:hmm:

Nothing like an already drunk groupie at 6:30PM dancing to the sound check @ the Elks Club to make your night; right Jimmy? Problem some greasy guy says he's the alternate Drummer for the band and takes her home at 10PM while she's slobering all over everything; gig ends at midnight... You never see her again.

Hi,
Here is my Ampeg and myself.
I got it shipped across the ocean from Reading, PA to Israel.
It's a 1972 set in mint condition with all original parts (including original tung-sol made tubes in excellent condition and even the original covers!)
I play and collect Ricks so I run my 1972 4001 through this 1972 SVT. It roars like nothing else.
