Wow. All I can say is... I'm not worthy!!

Don't get me wrong: all my axes got plenty of character, but it's all subtle - nothing that would yield a nice photo to up the ante on this thread.

Please keep 'em coming! I'm entertained and sometimes envious.

some of these look like victims of short years of heavy abuse

others look like many long years of loving use...

those are the ones im really enjoying...

this thread is making me want to buy an american jazz bass, just so itll have this much character when im..hmm..45 years old. but i know i probobly cant hold onto one that long..

I've noticed that when you customize a bass yourself, you feel a strong connection with it, like it's a part of you. I don't think I could ever sell "the daughter" ( on top of that, no one would want it.)

That's exactly what I want my bass to look like in 30 years. But there's a nasty route by the neck to help with the truss rod. So the pickguard has to stay on.

theres no routing on this bass, probably some dirt your looking at.

here's mine.
dubbed by the guys at work as the maggott bass.
put together with cheaps parts in the shed. my warwick streamer stage 2 custom shop stays in the case now, and i play this ALL the time.

Nope, it had a tin can like pickguard, horribly made, which i tossed out when I got it and it lifted the finis which apparently was well cooked. Bear in mind this bass has seen loads of action, belonged to about 8 or 9 different perrico ripeao and son players who dont exactly baby their instruments.

I have always enjoyed those racing stripes on mustangs. I put one on my Squier P years ago, might decide to do it again on my MIM Deluxe jazz.

yes the bass was fully functional before i sold it. The pickups sounded great, much like p pickups but with a little more high mids and less bass.
