POST YOUR FRETLESS!!!

Stock pickups and roundwound strings. I think you mean by not using the neck pickup ;) Actually, it gives me a Jaco-ish sound with, with the tone knob in the right position, enough bottom end!

@Lonnybass: Isn't that a HUGE action or is the picture playing tricks with my eyes?

Sorry, got my pickups mixed up :hiding:

Here's my fretless Jazz

There are so many stunning instruments in this thread already - congrats and hats off to all that own them - here's my fretless five, made by Brighton luthier Jeff Chapman:

It really does play beautifully well:

Cheers

Your bass kills me every time I see it, and every time I hear it.
Not to mention you play like a monster ;)

Here is my in-progress Birdsong - the body got it's first coat of oil yesterday. It'll have a standard Birdsong neck w/unlined ebony board when it gets assembled, along with a bridge humbucker, neck single coil, and two volume knobs (no tone knob).

Thanks Mark - I love my fretless too - while I love gorgeous top woods and some of the killin' Roscoe body shapes - my bass is really unique, like no one else has one like it - and it really has a unique tone IMO, the combintaion of the ebody board and the all-African mahony body + neck is pretty unusual but it makes for a great tone - it's also a very light instrument - so no aching shoulders or back!
