this is my "until some stuff on order gets here" setup. the whole top row to the right of the VTD is reserved. right now it's for things i like but dunno if i'm gonna keep on the board.

i dunno what i'm going to do with the tuner. i might go back to the Heliotrope instead of the Hexe to have enough room for the tuner on the bottom row.

wow. shortest lived board EVER. the Beh****er? what. a piece. of SH*T. i've had it for a week, moved it on my board then off to a super safe area, and the input jack just went out.

i'm not really that bummed. it did some neat stuff, but nothing AWESOME. and it just makes me feel dumb to have ignored my "nothing made from Beh****er that you have to rely on" policy.

i know Big Chiefer likes his. i can't trust something that failed that spectacularly within A WEEK. woof.

...... put the Helio in it's place to see if i'm ok with subbing it for the Hexe.

behndy, how do you like having the BEF b4 the BOD?

i ran the BEF first in the chain 'cause....

01) the ATFM is the first fuzz i've had that i liked it AFTER an envelope filter

02) the BEF into BOD sounds really nice. i don't use the BOD a LOT... i'm bad at staying "one note at a time" like you have to with analog octavers. but i do dig the BEF -> ATFM -> BOD combo. neat stuff.

What is the Ugly Face?

Ugly Face is....... NASTY. it's so angry. it's a fuzz with a strange envelope filter built in. that i think has a gate for what it lets through. the knobs aren't labeled with words, they're icons/glyphs. and i THINK i get what it's doing. i know it wrecks my signal in beautiful, beautiful ways.

i guess the builder is a friend of Bongo's. i found it in my fav weird pedal store. i.... don't know how to USE it in any songs yet... but's it's pretty wiggly and awesome.

I wish I had a fav weird pedal store. I went out earlier this week to try to find a Ring Modulator, or some other crazy goofy FX,....nothing. Checked all the stores (even Guitard Day Care Center),....I seriously started to get angry. Nothing to satisfy that instant gratification. The selection is great if you want Disto/OD/Delay,...you know normal FX. I guess I'll just have to buy one of these,....

cos i want to get rid of my behringer vintage bass for that

ya know... it was decent. has some neat stuff. but the input jack has already gone wonky. i thought i had a bad cord, because i was getting a single tone hum and NOTHING else really loud. swapped out a bunch of cords and sure enough, it was the Beh****er. i have NO faith in the quality of their product.

and the footswitch has been iffy from the get-go. for home stuff? it's a nice cheap pedal. for gigging... NO. uh-uh. i'd rather dance at a Thai lady-boy bar for tips. nope. yuck.

yah.... i have the space because the offset ATFM footswitch gets TOO close to the BEF... i've been known to kick on two pedals at once on accident sometimes. that's also the why-for on the spacing on the whole bottom row.

i think the Hexe IS gonna come off for the Heliotrope. that will give me enough room for the tiny Keeley bypass looper i'm going to put in there for the top row.

might still have to chuck the tuner into the case. i only tune up before a show, and i don't do any tuning changes... so might be ok. i just hate not having everything on there. i have a exp pedal that i'm gonna use with what goes up top that has to be off board too. offends my OCD geeky sensibilities.

hee... i was just told that the three things that go upstairs are shipping in the next couple days. me = Colored Chartreuse In Happiness.

How you dig the TAFM and Velcroar??

damn it Eruk. i.... LOVE it. not only is it the most beautiful thing i've ever seen, but it's just.... insanely good. i can get so many usable tones out of this Pretty Pink Bi**ch. that's..... what i call her in my head meats. my Pretty Pink Bi**ch. that, or Hit GrrL.

MAN that FV switch gets LOUD. QUICK. do you (or all you other ATFM heads) get a volume jump when you engage it?

i set it up by turning the FV all the way off and getting the clean tone a little quieter then it was with the ATFM turned off. then i dialed in a little on the FV and wobbled around with the other switches. i have the Clean/Dirty switch set to the right (affects fuzz only, no overdrive stage) and the Shape Shift set to the left (slightly scooped).

when the Clean/Dirty switch is to the right, it seems the IN knob doesn't really do anything. it only controls the overdrive stage to the input signal?

yeah. beastly, BEASTLY thing.

the Velcroar is.... interesting. when slapping it does an odd, almost delay gating thing. sounds different. i haven't played with it a lot yet. my home combo is kinda sh*t so i'm waiting till i'm on my good rig to explore it more. i'll get back to you on that'un. but it is PRETTY.

I have a Behinger BDDI on my board, which is completely fine, never a problem. I recently fixed a Behringer tremelo pedal for my guitarist. It just turned out to be a dry joint. So I reheated and flowed a tiny bit more solder on here and there especially on the input/output sockets. They are mounted directly on the board, so I think its a weak way of doing it, especially if you are often plugging and unplugging a lot.

damnit. i like the Aggy Octa better. gonna swap it out for the BOD i think.

i DO like the Octave -> Filter combo better than the Filter -> Octave direction, but i'm liking the Filter -> ATFM better than reversed. can't have it both ways. i think the Filter -> ATFM is more useful tho. and the ATFM can't go first anyways. 'less i turn it on it's side. the top mounted jacks make it hard to plug into unless i make it's butt stick off the board.

The IN on the fuzz only kinda affects the squishiness of the fuzz, if that makes sense..
The mid-switch to the left is mid-boost, IIRC.

It takes some playing around, but you'll use more of the FV. It grows on ya, don't worry.

Try different fuzzes INTO it it's a good end-fuzz.

That Bit Crusher looks TASTY. If the Helio kicks it....

lol..... no, i DO like it.... but it makes it where it's a lot louder than not engaged. and i kinda need to keep a SOMEWHAT unity signal going out. it messes up things if i go from normal to LOUD to normal in a song.

That sucks that yours went bust. I haven't had any trouble with mine, but I've heard enough stories of other people having problems with their Behringer gear to not question it.

Believe me, I'd LOVE to have a pedal that was better constructed to replace the Behringer. Unfortunately, there is no other pedal available that does the same thing until you reach at least 6-8 times the cost of the BSY. There's a huge market gap there. So until I can justify dropping 300 bucks on a bass synth that I only use for a couple songs, I'm gonna have to make due with the Behringer.

yeah. i feel you. there IS a huge jump from this to most anything else "Bass Synth" related. and i've found that i kinda don't dig on multi efx units. i might make an exception for an Akai Deep Impact or a Octavius Squeeze tho.

lol.... it's so damn cheap that i'm not really miffed about it breaking. but kinda not worth the trouble of packing it up and shipping it back for a replacement.

shoulda listened to my inner voice. well, i listen to numbers 1-4, 6 and 8. APPARENTLY 5 and 7 are having an affair so they're not to be trusted.
