Well, if you want to get technical, neither are the EB VP Jrs, but just try and find a pedal, any pedal, boutique or otherwise, that can do everything the LS-2 can do.

Here's what I have, with my freshly true bypass modded EHX micro synth. Only thing missing is a Barge Concepts GLZ-1, which I'll be ordering next week so that I can switch quickly between my active and passive basses without having to tweak anything.

Ok, nothing boutique here but I´m having lots of fun with it:

Korg Pitchblack -> Maxon Distortion & Sustainer -> Small Stone -> Space Echo -> DD-7 -> Sansamp

I´m really enjoying the looping mode on the DD-7, especially with the Space Echo in front of it. Welcome to the World of Weirdness!

I might look for a Sansamp alternative, though. It sounds fabulous compressing the noises from my Digitech pedals (currently off board) but it takes too much away from the rich, juicy overtones the Maxon provides. MXR M-80, maybe...

RE-20 plus Small Stone plus delay must be a lot of fun. How much tone suckage do you get from the RE-20? I noticed some when trying it out but I wasn't going through a proper bass rig at the time.

RE-20 plus Small Stone plus delay must be a lot of fun. How much tone suckage do you get from the RE-20? I noticed some when trying it out but I wasn't going through a proper bass rig at the time.

I´m playing through a Roland Cube 100 (which you might be familiar with, given your username?), probably not a "proper" rig either. To be honest, I didn´t detect any loss of tone with either my P bass or my Sterling. If there is one, I´ll be more than willing to put up with it for the sheer fun the RE-20 offers.

How is the Maxon? I haven't heard much about it.

I would never have tried it if I hadn´t found it in the discount bin at my music store. I was looking for a fuzz and tried the Little Big Muff which I found to be nice but rather noisy. Then I plugged in the Maxon and wow! No noise except at extreme (read: unusable for bass) levels and a really sweet, rich, creamy, fuzzy distortion with better definition than the LBM. It does lose a bit of low end but no more so than the LBM.

I read later on the net that the D&S is modeled after a 70s Big Muff. I´m really pleased with mine.
