I also now have a Boss TU-2 on it's way.

What would be the best way to chain these together?

*Note: I would like to keep the LMB-3 somewhere after the BDDI so I can overdrive the BDDI and just flick on the LMB-3 so my volume doesn't go up.

1. TU-2 -> BDDI -> LMB-3 -> CEB-3
2. TU-2 -> LMB-3 -> CEB-3 -> BDDI
3. TU-2 -> CEB-3 -> BDDI -> LMB-3
4. TU-2 -> BDDI -> CEB-3 -> LMB-3
5. etc....
which way's the best way? I'm thinking #3 or #1 theoretically.

Being a bit OD about a neat pedalboard, I definitely think they are worth it. They went together easily and have gotten some great ratings for tonal quality.

You can buy the components seperately on Musicians Friend. I bought one kit and 4 extra connectors, which was enough to complete my board with some spare. You should also check with your local music store, many of them carry the components seperately.

A mute is a mute is a mute. It doesn't matter where it is in your chain, it will serve as a mute anywhere. Most put their tuner at the beginning so that the signal to the tuner isn't filtered by any pedals that are accidentially left on during tuning.

Well, this 'order game' has been played a lot lately and everytime the only right answer was: 'the best order is the one that gives you the most satisfying sound!'.

With that I didn't want to grind your gears or anything just try all those options and see what works best for you!

This is what works best for me: comp to distortion to flanger.

Not always. If any of these pedals are noisy (I don't know if they are or not), if you hate it used at a mute at the front of the chain, there woudl still be noise. If you pout it at the end, you don't. Pretty simple.

Hey, page 100!!!

I'm now, at the sugesstion of SuperBassman2000, trying to combine my rhythm guitar tone with my bass. Not going so good, but I did "add" some treble back in.... well, technically I just put it back to flat, but the good news is that it still cleans up quite nice when I roll back the volume!

Planning an experiment tonight (hopfully), where I shall put a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive before the PDDI as a booster/tone control kinda thing. Should be interesting. Trying to get an od, dist, and fuzz sound out of the PD.

I'll post pics/let you know how it goes....

The main point of the mute is to mute the sound of the bass, to allow changing basses or tuning the bass without annoying the audience, not muting every minor noise potentially caused by the effects in your chain. If your pedal noise annoys you, then it will continue to annoy you after you turn off the mute (you have to turn off the mute to play, right?), and your time would better be served fixing or eliminating the pedal that causes the noise.

That said, pedal order is quite subjective, so put your pedals in the order that makes you happiest.

First off, here is a "family" picture of all my instruments and FX boards:

After experimenting with the VLSD -> PDDI and getting the sound I wanted ( doooooooomy! :hyper: ) I decided that, since I change my mind about what I want on my board, I'd put the wah and chorus on it just for options. I put the chorus between the SD and PDDI so that I could have OD->Chorus or Chorus->OD ( :hyper: ). I was actually quite pleased to find that the CEB-3's bypass doesn't affect my tone/volume level ( :hyper: ), unlike my TU-2 :mad: Set up my PDDI to SVT, and my new SD for a little crunch/top end and :eek: :D was my general reaction. Then I stomped the chorus set up as described in a chorus settings thread a while back and again I went :eek: :D

After picking myself up off the floor, I added the wah. This was the step I most dreaded :bawl: , but was helped out quite a bit by threads that I'd remembered, particularly one about wahs and tube emulators. Anyway, figured again that I might as well put the wah between the two ODs I have, and for now put it after the chorus. That might change to before the chorus but we'll see. So, the first thing I did was set up the PDDI to flat EQ with blend all the way down (no mid scoop: the wah->SA dilemma!). I set the SD to flat tone, max gain, and played with the wah (which BTW is set: heel freq=lowest; range=lowest; Q=12 o'clock) and ended up with the SDs tone at full treble. Sounded thin, but like a great start. I for my wah sound I wanted more grit in the heel pos, so I put the PDDI's blend at 9 o'clock and played with the EQ/Gain. I'm getting close, and that makes me quite :hyper: ! I actually like the SD/wah combo better than the wah paired with the English Muff'n. Sounds beefier.

Anyway, I'm a little over 5 hours into tweeking and finding different setting with this board, and I'd say it's going pretty well. I have a Planet Waves CT-04 tuner on the way, so we'll see if that affects the tone or not (hoping not!). After that I'll just be adding a VL Pedal Power 2 and some George L's after I decide whether the wah should be before or after the chorus. I even have places reserved for tuner/power:

I'd move the M-80 up to the top side of the board and turn it round so it's straight. That way you'll be able to hit the switches easily. Just an idea.
