Actually, most of us just want to groove, lay down steady beats, and of course, solo like there's no guitarist in the band.

And if there IS a guitarist... too bad for his/her solos :smug:

No pics yet, nor all the items, but I had to come here to give you a text preview of my coming pedalboard (just ordered the board itself and the two final, for now, pedals). Why? Because I'm pretty excited right now. :D

Ok, so the setup will be:

- Bass
-> Digitech Bass Driver
-> Digitech Bass Synth
-> Weeping Demon Wah
-> Digitech Bass Chorus
-> MXR Bass D.I +
-> Amp

...all sitting comfortably on a pre-powered board. Didn't have the money to buy the Digitech JamMan looper, but I will add it as soon as I get the money. Yay. Pics will arrive immediately as I get the board and the two pedals. :D

What's the difference between sansamp BDDI and the programmable BDDI? Just that the latter is programmable? Is there any other difference? I'm looking to acquire either.
Also, it'd be nice if people would give an idea about what kind of music they use these effects for, roughly, like pop/rock/metal/jazz/rnb, whatever. This way relatively less advanced FXs people like me can begin to associate certain pedals with certain genres.

Ice-Man: Listen to Damageplan - Crawl .. sounds exactly like that when set to a good amount of "fuzz" (dont know if its a fuzz or drive)

Adil: Theres only one difference between the normal BDDI and the programmable one. It's just that you can find 3 different sounds you like from the sansamp and "save" that sound into a channel by hitting the stomp 2 times fast.

I'm playing in a metal band with acoustic parts (think Opeth without growl) and my sansamp is set up like this:

  • 1. Deep, smooth bass sound for the acoustic parts of our songs
  • 2. Thick-as-awall bass sound with enough presence (upper harmonics) to get a clanky - almost percussive effekt.
  • 3. Set up to be used with my homebuilt fuzz/od to fatten it up.

My band has done about 4 tunes now (we've just started) and I haven't used my fuzz yet, theres just no need to use it I feel. But in example: if the bass is just going to play the chorus riff throughout the verses with no guitars, I would use it for sure.

Thing is that my band has got 2 guitars, so its not really needed to do the "when the guitar is doing lead parts I hit the OD/DIST/FUZZ/W/E to fill in" And I'm fine with that actually :)

Oh and theres another thing thats not available on the programmable: the parallel output for dry signal. But I dont really need that.

I've revised my board! I bought and sold lots of stuff.

Now the signal chain is as follows:

AMP <= Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI <= Boss BF-2 Flanger <= EHX Small Clone <= Morley Power Wah <= EHX Little Big Muff <= MXR M-132 Super Comp <= BASS

It's all on a 22" x 11.5" pedalboard + case from Rondo Music. Ideally, I'll be investing in a Pedaltrain when I get more money, as the clearance of the side of the board is an issue...

I also have a Boss TU-12 Chromatic Tuner currently off the board. It's not a pedal, though. I'd like to add a Planet Waves tuner pedal to the board when I get more money, but first... I need to get a better amp setup!

Depth Charge is a fuzz pedal (bass maestro clone I belive). It has a clean/dry blend on it which is one of the best features of any bass pedal I've used.

At it's extreme settings it has a noticable octave introduction which can sound a little like a horde of wasps ready to kill. At the lower settings I tend to use it on, it is perfect for grit introduction while maintaining ALL of the charater of the clean sound

The programmable SABDDI is basically 3 of the regular SABDDIs in one unit. You can program each of the 3 different footswitches with a different sound. The only feature the programmable model lacks is a parallel (unaffected) out.

The right-hand peice of paper is a place holder for either a strobostomp, or the Planet Waves Pedal Tuner (most likely). This would then run into the PDDI, which will run into the CFH. The CFH has 2 outs on the left-hand side. You can have them set up to both output the effected signal, but I have it so that one is the effected sound, and the other is the "dry" (pddi) signal. These are mixed using chans 1 & 2 on the mixer (bottom left). Chan 3 is turned down to min (off). This will then run into the left-hand peice of paper which will be an aphex punch factory when I get around to it.

BTW, the strange black protrusion on the PDDI is a 1/4" mono splitter so that I can access the PDDI's 1/4" out at any time! Set up this way I'll have access to the XLR as well! It'll be like 2 boards in one! :D
