No need to apologize. Someone asked about the Guytone Fuzz and I mentioned that I'd heard that it (the Guytone) and the Zoom Ultrafuzz were considered the "poor man's" Wooly Mammoth. I found it funny, that he didn't like the Mammoth, but enjoys a pedal considered a cheap alternative for that pedal.

I don't know if I can spell it out clearer than that.

I think that it has limited applicability on its own, but gets realy versitile depending on what you're playing it through. It's a bit crazier on the guitar which is good or bad depending on how you look at it (or I just haven't hit the right settings yet. Throwing the trem before it does some cool stuff to it as they suggest on the website... I dunno...

Cool!! But what does the Machine actually do? :)

Not easy to find some info about. They say it rocks on bass though... Have tried plugin it into a cranked muffin? Should unleash it's potential there. :bassist:

It wasn't so much me not liking the Wooly Mammoth. It was more like the WM not liking my basses, which have 18v Aguilar OBP1 preamps. It just doesn't seem to work well with a really hot output bass from the 1/2 hour or so that I spent with it. I'm sure if I rocked it with a passive bass it would be another story, but there ya go. Just going with what my ears tell me. I had a Fulltone Bass Driver which I liked alot after going through a bunch of Tube Screamer-esque pedals until recently when I sold it in favor of a beat to hell quarter century old DOD 250. Maybe I've got strange ears ;) I never looked into the Zoom Ultrafuzz, but if I find one locally I'll be sure to take one for a spin, but for now I'm pretty content with the dirt dept. on my board. Keep stompin', y'all.

Well, I mean "good" as in "it doesn't sound like crap if you put a bass into it". And also, I have a lot of no-wave/noise influence, so I also mean "good" in the way for making a nice racket, and I know I should've been more clear on this aspect(sorry 'bout that); but it seems like a really cool toy and I got excited.

Low end loss.....? Sometimes people here talk about that, but sometimes seem to me that they're complaining of not hearing the 15Hz wave....

I think the XXL is fantastic. Just came home after souncheck for the Battle of the Bands I'm doing tonight, and it sounded ace. It sounds great with OR without blending clean signal in, but I always blend my clean with my effects, so it still sounds awesome. It's got a bit of a learning curve to it though, and at some settings can sound buzzy. I posted a little mini review in a thread somewhere a little while ago. I'll see if I can find the post when I get in.

I knew there'd be a comment about the toes! Was gonna crop them out after I realised they were in the shot, but I'd already uploaded the pic and couldn't be arsed! :p

It's explained [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], but the video gives a better idea. I prefer it with the muffing, but I like it with the muff'n just barely overdriven(I have lower gain tubes in there). It does it's thing with both my other drive pedals and on its own... its all just dieffernt flavors of distortion/overdrive/fuzz layered up.My understanding is that it distorts your signal in a different way than most drive pedals, so it is intended to be stacked up with them to cut through it all.

If you have some noise influence, I could see you liking this. Racket describes some of the stuff it does really well (I think its a good racket though).

The low end loss thing definately isn't just 15Hz... My combo doesn't get anywhere there (its an ampeg B100R, so no super low end on it). As I said, it may all be relative, but the fundamental seems to come through less at some settings, but at others its strong, just with lots of highs to go with it. I like the lower gain settings on the muffin, as they seem to interact and keep the lows together well, whereas my mammoth settings can give some weird artifacts and sound buzzy as I like the "pinch" rolled way up. If you're thinking about one, really look for a place to try it... I can see how some people would say it sounds like crap with anything put through it.

That would explain it better. It's pretty well-known that the WM and active electronics don't get along.

Hah.. Wow, so much has changed on here. My board is but a hollow memory of what it used to be:

Loooper (boss TU-12h)->Barber LTD->Amp

I have been through a rough hell of a year, had to sell 99.9% of my gear. I will hopefully be buying a Little Big Muff to go before the LTD, and a nice analog delay to go after the LTD. For the doom stuff I am doing right now, that will be all I need (hopefully).

Its funny because, I have a feeling most kids on this board now have no freaking clue who the hell I am. What do you think gang, is it time for Alex's comeback? ;)

my pedal board is now Ibanez SR400 bass > Digitech WH-4 whammy > Boss NS2 noise supressor > NS2 send > Boss GEB7 EQ > NS2 Return > Boss CEB3 Chorus > Ampeg BA112 amp

I still have my Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Boss LMB3, and Ibanez PD7 od/dist. that I don't want because I never use them anymore and don't need them. In great condition, nothing to say against the pedals sound, I just don't need em anymore. So I'll prob sell those 3 as one item on ebay in the next week for like $90-$100. lol
