I made the AB box because the tuner seemed to make noises of its own when permanently in the path, and silent tuning is much more professional I feel.
I don't change effects much (a bit of chorus on one song, overdrive for 4 bars on another, volume is just for level, not swells, octaver on just one song) BDI is always on, so it's simple. It has to be, I'm singing too!
The box is a toolbox from the local DIY shed. I put a false base in it (removable) of mdf sprayed black, that the wires go underneath for power etc, keeps it all neat.
I changed the hinges for knock down ones, and the effects sit in the 'lid', otherwise it's too high and you can't activate the pedals.
Most of the effects are old or cheap, but it sounds pretty good.
I'm running my Squier Jazz (recently rewired both pickups on, to one volume control, flatwound strings) thru this into my Behringer head and 2x10 cab.
The labels on the effects are my way of amusing myself, and they confuse gear-watchers too!
I thought the Behringer BDI box looked like an eye, so I put a stick on googly eye on the switch.
Having it all together like this is just great. Much more reliable. And these days it seems venues don't even give you a sound check, it's just plug in and go, then you have to get off just as quickly too!
