Well to my surprise i've just been given some really nice starter gear, all that barely used if not brand new. Imagine myself getting back home seeing a package like that...

It sad to say it came from a familly member that past away but i sure appreciate the tought he had on writting his last wills.

My dear uncle left me this exact set, with stands, travel bag (on wheels, like you see in airports) and lots of cables. Add a microphone/stand to the lot. I think this is probably the best 'gift' that i ever had.

Soundcraft Compact 4 mixer, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard, old school Ensoniq midi controller keyboard and an AKG c1000 mic, into the PC (2GHz AMD Athlon and 512Mb RAM) running Cubase.

I really like the Onyx pres and Traction 2 software, very easy to use. I can get two channel strips by routing the two main outs paned left and right and running them back into the board that sends it to the computer, this allows use of the Onyxs great Perkins EQ and can run the RNC compressor in the channel insert. Really turns out nice for a pair of channel strips. This is not advertised by Mackie but alot of people do this with these boards. Ask yourself how much one channel strip will run you over $200 per strip for a Jomek strip, the Onyx is about $500 and can do 12 plus tracks at once if you need it.

I just plug into the line in, it sounds crap and it is but it serves its purpose for an in band demo really.

I have the same but my Fast Track will not work with Garageband or Cubase, even though the system monitors and picks it up

Let's see...I use PT LE 7.1 on XP, BFD, Live, and Reason, with a Digi 002R. I just got a little Behringer BCF2000 for some fader control, and use a Great River 1NV and a RNP for mic pres. Monitors are KRK V8.

My computer is an AMD X64 4400+ processor with an ASUS SLI motherboard. 2GB RAM. Three Western Digital Raptor 10,000 RPM drives.
