Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

Hey guys, I really like Flea's tone on stadium arcadium and I heard he used GHS flats on his jazz bass for that album. He has a kind of trebley sound if he's really using flats though. Does anyone on here get that tone with these strings? Heres a video with his jazz bass.

Does anyone find their E to be a bit muddy? I've been finding lately that I think I'm falling out of love with these strings at least on my Mike Lull P and I feel like the E is partly to blame. I've tried replacing the string and it doesn't make a difference so it's not that.
Did you get this fixed?

Yeah to get the set really balanced, it really takes 4+ months, sadly. Before that time the D&G have some sort of 'zing', the E is dead and the A is somewhere in between. You should give them more time and play them regularly to get trough that 'phase'.

I originally tried them on a Fender P that I had and immediately I loved them, but with the other basses I've tried except for my fretless I just couldn't get into them. Thought I may give them a try on another bass I have when I want a change.

I'm loving the PFs on my PJ Bass! Beautiful sound and great feel. The only problem for me is, cutting through in a live mix. Never had that happen with Chromes or Fender flats. I've tried EQing of course, but only had limited success. Any suggestions?

I play fingerstyle, picking over the PU mostly, but I move around. Mainly use just the P pickup, it's a blues band. I'm missing the upper mids that help define the note in a mix. The Chromes are the opposite of the PFs, very defined, not a lot of fundamental though, and the G string is almost inaudible with the band.

G string almost inaudible with the GHS or the Chromes?
The Chromes.

Seems like a thing with pick-up height more than a string problem. My G had the problem that it cuts better than all the other strings.
Pickup is almost touching the G string with the Chromes.

Sorry if I made it unclear, the problem with the GHS flats is that there aren't enough upper mids in a band situation. They sound wonderful at home. I've tried bringing up the high mid knob on my GK but it only helps a little. I'll keep trying because I like everything else about them!

I don't have any trouble cutting through in one band I play in, but it's a 3 piece jazz/funk trio... and it's less about cutting through and more about slipping in, and filling out the bottom end... Suits that band perfectly with a SCPB...

I would however have trouble using that bass in a 4 piece indie alt band I also play in, so I use rounds on a 'Ray'... No amount of tone adjusting would work to compete with the guitarist in that band who saturates the mid freq band, I tried it once out of curiosity and was totally lost in the mix... So I hear ya, and as much as I love these strings and wish they would work in that scenario, I would advise something more cutting, like rounds.
