Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

You really just need to make a Medium Scale E-String. The other strings Long Scale will work...

(runs and hides...)
No need to run and hide, and they will work especially well on 2+2 headstocks with the tall A & D tuners being far enough up the headstock so that there is still just silk leader around the post to avoid binding, and the G string is small enough diameter it doesn't matter.

Just talked with our R&D guy about this, and all I have to do is make up the specs and present it to the boss, so let's see some requests.

Slapinfunk, you have a med scale bass to do some prototyping, should this go forward?

I have a few "Short Scale" basses that require "Medium Scale" strings, so yes.

Starfire
Coranado II
Hofner Beatle
Working on adding a Mustang to the mix which will use Medium Scale as well :D

Awesome. We don't have any medium scale (or short scale that need medium) basses in the building. It's quite sad, really.

So I've had the 3050's on for 3 days, and I have a real bad case of tennis elbow on my left arm with discomfort from my bicep to my forearm. I did about 40 mins worth of gentle stretching, which allowed me to play "Rescue Me" for half an hour while I dialed in my Para Driver. Plus practiced a couple of songs without ANY discomfort. These strings are tight, yet they are flexible. I love my TI's, Chromes and Fender flats, but the GHS .055-105's are the shnitz for me! My '62 P copy sports an alder body, rw board and Seymour SPB-1's and the sound is just amazing to my ears. And to think, they will loosen up and sound even better after time. I also tried them in drop D tuning....no wobble or fret buzz to boot. My 15 year old the guitar player, kills strings instantly....maybe I should have him break them in;)

I'll throw my .02 in and say I thought I hated flats until I bought a used fretless that was strung with these. There is a thread somewhere where I was all about finding out what strings they were. Someday I'll string a P-bass with them too.

I've got my first gig with mine tomorrow. I've only had about 1 hours play on them so far but I'm really looking forward to it.
In fact I'm not going to bother taking any effects or use my BDDI, just so I can hear the pure tone.
Having gigged with Chromes and TI's in the past, and liking them but not loving them, I'm hoping these will finally show me what flats are all about.

Okay, talked with the boss. We are GOOD to get some medium scale Precision Flats made. It may be a couple of weeks to have them properly scheduled, but then we'll get them going. SLaPiNFuNK will be expecting a couple of sets to prototype, but why should he have all the fun?

Here's the deal. Using the original list of people that would be interested in seeing a Medium Scale 34" Winding Length GHS Precision Flats set, I will pick up to 4 of those signed up (at random, using one of those random number generators) who will get to try these out as well. Sound fair?

I will keep this post updated, as best I can.

I absolutely want in...want something to try on the Hofner. Thanks!!

These will fit a Hofner Bass? I've been waiting for this! What gauges do you think they'll be?

I'd like in on that. I just tried some chromes on my SX Medium scale fretless, and I'm just not a fan.
