Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

After a four day play in period, my neck relief increased to 0.014" even though the total set tension was 10 pounds less than the 4M-BN set they replaced. A small truss rod adjustment (1/4 turn) brought me down to 0.010", which is a little low but is playing nice and clean so I will leave it as is for now and will measure again next week. String height is just fine so no adjustment needed, and the intonation is also fine (which is a pleasant surprise).

The E string has begun to open up and is more even in tone and volume with the rest of the set. I'm going to guess 10 hours of total playing time so far. I really like this set much better than the M3050 set that started this thread 92 pages and six+ years ago. I'll keep you updated.

Puts Umpty-Ump in the Humpty-Hump. Ditto Ba-Donky-Donk in the Honky Tonk.
Tri-corder readings exceptional. Further investigation underway.

Precision Flats on Precision... That's the only logical thing to do, Capt'n.

Groove strong and prosper!

The GHS Precision flats are nice strings but personally I think of them as a slightly less interesting "thump" flatwound than the LaBella DTFs. I can use them for pretty much the same stuff but always slightly prefer the LaBellas over the Precision Flats for that old school thumpy vibe. It's a close call though, I wouldn't lose any sleep if I woke up one day and suddenly found all my LaBella equipped basses strung with GHS.

The Sound of Chocolate Saga Continues! :bassist: :hyper:
In today's episode the CM3050 set continues to play in brilliantly. I don't think it will even take a month for them to settle in properly as they become more balanced in tone & volume with each practice session. Silky smooth texture. Very reasonable tension with good overall flexibility for flats. These have become my favorite flats thus far.

I have my flats set on my headless for 5 months and still feels like it hasn’t quite settle in yet.

I think @Linnin meant which specific set as in the gauges. There are four different sets of Precision Flats.

Fair. I used the 40-95 light gauge set. Nothing too fancy. Plays extremely well on my Steinberger Spirit. I really love them on that bass given that I upgraded the pickups to Bartolinis and added a Bartolini preamp to compliment the pickups. Best investment I ever made!
