I don't know how you thought that was offensive. I was mearly pointing out that making a tool work better is not butchery.Sorry if I offended you.
I will remove myself from this discussion.
In Regent Alliance Ltd., for example, the Court of Appeal, in an opinion by Justice Frances Rothschild, noted that the tort of conversion is a strict liability tort and that questions of the defendant’s good faith, lack of knowledge, and motive are ordinarily immaterial (citing Burlesci v. Petersen, 68 Cal. App. 4th 1062, 1066 (1998). Therefore, bona fide purchasers of converted goods will ordinary be liable for conversion.
Here's some footage from Rock and Roll Animal. Prakash joined the band 2 days before this was recorded. Good shots of the bass at about 7:20
I've always loved his playing!
I wish I still had a copy of Steve Hunter's solo album from the Nightmare era. The bass work on Eight Miles High is just killer with a tone to die for.

Rock n Roll stories, and histories vary. I'm going by what Prakash tells me face to face, since I work with him. He claims he flew to New York after being hired by telephone. He met Lou the night before two rehearsals for the album. Since the version I've heard is first person, I'll stick with that. Memories fade, and stories develop, so there may be different versions.I don't think that 2 week claim is entirely correct- on the Wolfgang's Vault website (Bill Graham Presents website) there are/were multiple recordings of that band on tour thru the summer, you can hear the intro develop into what it was by the time they recorded in NY in December. A staggering piece of music that changed my 13 year old life from the second I heard it on FM radio, but it didn't spring from the brow of Zeus fully developed like the version on the recording.

Amazon still sells the download for that album.I've always loved his playing!

IMHO the best RnB band out there doing it now.
Tort? There’s a law governing pickguards?
Wasn’t there a scam whereby a seller would post photos of their instrument, including the serial number, and the next thing you know a scammer would contact them claiming it was a stolen item?

It was Pretty heavily modified, IIRC.Great story on the return of the bass.
I would never have guessed that was a Rickenbacker in that recording!

Edit-looks like this was already pointed out.![]()
Two jazz pick ups and a mudbucker, electronics by Neil Moser. If you mod something to make it more suitable for your own uses it's not butchery. It wasn't vintage when they started routing the body, it was a used bass.

With a used instrument, documentation from all previous owners / transactions involving the instrument (otherwise known as chain of custody) solves the problem before it starts.
Good luck with that! I imagine very few people keep those kinds of records.
