Pre-CBS firewood

Things like that make the remaining pre cbs basses more valuable. If they all made it thru in mint condition they would be so sought after.Remember not every pre cbs bass was the holy grail of basses, some were turds.

So I think we can agree that given the 2 examples, the asking rate for a cut upon vintage body is about $200.

And I don't think a kid and dad's router did these. I think a hand saw and some sandpaper would get you there, just take a lot more time. Something apparently was in abundance for these folks.

Shoot... it doesn't look *that* bad. You could probably fix it parts from the TB Classifieds, and advice from the Luthiers Corner.

Just needs a little wood, a Squier neck with a fake logo, a tort 'guard, slap some Nordy pickups in there, with a stacked tone pot, pick up a lightly-used set of TI Jazz Flats, and this bass is freakin' perfect for metal.

I oughta' do it just to be ornery. Hey, can one of you guys float me a couple Benjamins.

That's the kind of thing you take and chop into smaller bits and make music-themed folk art out of, then play up the fact that your music-themed art is made from wood taken from an original classic bass guitar. Then sell the bits themselves for $100 each, cuz art. Profit!
