Running a Mesa Subway Preamp DI into a Peavey IPR 1600 DSP, fun times!

Do other Peavey IPR users use the EQ or the Maxxbass?

My IPR 3000 is fed by a Peavey Max Bass pre-amp.

Did you mean, "the EQ *on* the Maxbass"? Because I definitely do (the solid state channel has a 7-band EQ, which the tube side has low/mid/high)

Sorry no, I meant using the in-built EQ in the Poweramp. The IPR 1600 DSP has Maxxbass as an option in the poweramp EQ section.

I haven't touched another amp in over 4 years. Best sounding amp I have ever heard and only one I own (excluding a tiny Roland practice amp).

Did the pre-amp/power amp thing for a long time. Best setup I ever had was an Alembic F1-X with a QSC 1202 bridged into a Whappo Jr. It all fit into a 4 space rack with a single rack power strip. I have no need for that kind of power these days but, it was nice while it lasted.

Got it. My IPR does not have DSP. But, if it did, my suspicion is that I wouldn't use it - opting for a more flat full-range frequency response from my power amp (and full-range speakers), and tailoring the tone back at the pre-amp.

The QSC PLX 3002 is a great amp, light weight and more than enough power for my needs. Clean and punchy. Same with the Peavey DPC 1400X, Love the DPC because it's 1400 watts in 1 rack space. It never fails and runs cool all the time, peavey was way ahead of the game when they came out with these, I'd take 2 more but they're hard to find. The last one, the Peavey GPS 3500 is a rock, weighs 60 lbs. Never had an issue with it and quite honestly never even heard the cooling fans kick on. Because it has so much headroom it runs rock solid and cool all the time. It's my backup mostly and right now it sits at the house where I practice with a 4x10 cab so I don't have to lug equipment to practice all the time.
I'd have to say the Peavey DPC1400 is my favorite followed by the QSC. They all hold the low end down without any issues and power to spare. I own these 3 amps because I ran a PV1500 years back and whenever it was driven hard it would kick out into thermal shutdown and that is very embarrassing in the middle of a song. I always buy amps now I know even when I run at high volume that they won't have an issue.

I A/B the 2 preamps. The svp-pro for the grit and the svpcl for the clean sound.

As a rack mount aficionado I would love to see more 1 rack space power amps like the Peavey DPC 1400X. Class D has come a long way in the past 10 years and it would be nice to see some decent 1U amps rated like the DPC or more. Powersoft has some but the prices are ridiculously high and any others I've seen are usually 300 a side or less. I'd like to see some 2k watt (1k watt a side into 4 ohms) single rack solutions. Most companies seem to be focused on micro heads instead.
